Last open bottom leather case I had phone fell on the steel seat rail in my car put a dint in the bottom of the phone, 7 plus with apple leather. Would do more damage now phones being all glass.
Sorry to hear that, I don’t know if I understood right the procees of that dint (sorry English is not my mother tongue) and I don’t know how that cases were made, but nowadays, Bullstrap, AlexGoldfinch and Ryan London, open cases they protrude on the bottom part enough that if the iPhone falls down that part do not touch the floor. They only thing that can actually damage the iPhone is if the phone fells on a big irregular surface ( I had quite concrete impacts, and all well)

Extra tip: I always put a hidrogel film to protect the edges, but just on the bottom part of the phone that remains uncovered, so I’m also covered from scratches, works like a charm for me.

Ive been saying this for ages, I can’ t stand when reviewers praise the “leather feeling” of Andar or Ryan London ( bottom closed) or Decoded ( an European brand) and as you said they just feel like plastic and they do not get a good patina over time.

I’ve spent hundreds, just beacause reviewers said “nice Leather feeling” looking for that leather feeling and then just it wasn’t.

For the cases I’ve tested, nomad, RL, andar, Luckycoin, Alex Goldfinch, Decoded, mujo(another crap case IMO), Lonli, and torro.
1. Alex Goldfinch
2. Bullstrap
Both quite similar actually.

3. RL open bottom
4. Lucky Coin
(Still decent, just not as good as 2 first IMO)

And the rest just feel plastic, or hard leather or something strange.
Good list.

For me, RL open bottom takes the cake over bullstrap. Especially this year as BS is much thicker than RL (or enough to be noticeable).

Could be, maybe I had bad luck or bad unit but RL didn’t impress me in the past, to be fair I’ve not tested this year cases. I have 15pro max experience. This year I founded an European company (Alex Goldfinch) try them, they really gave me that Bullstrap vibe (without paying shipping and customs) really liked them and settle down haha.

Are you talking about RL open bottom or closed (or both) that are noticeable thinner than Bullstrap?

These reviewers are getting paid in a sponsorship, so I think they will always say good things.

I am with you mostly on the ratings, though I haven’t tried Alex Goldfinch (don’t love the logo on the back), but I would swap Bullstrap and RL (open bottom). For me on the 16 pro versions the Ryan London has patinaed a bit nicer than the Bullstrap.

1. Ryan London open bottom
2. Bullstrap (very close because they have so many colors).
3. Luckycoin

Open. This year BS switched up a bit, previous years I definitely thought they were closer to eachother.

I actually really like Alex goldfinch logo, looks subtle and classy. But I also tend to like logo on my cases, might be strange, if there is no logo it seems like something is missing haha.

Might give it a second chance to RL in the future then.

I like the logo too… couldn’t pin point why until you said it the way you did.. seems like something’s missing otherwise! 😂

Yeah I don’t mind having a logo on the back or initials. I have initials on the back of my RL, just the Alex Goldfinch logo isn’t my favorite. I agree a logo does kind of fit on the back of the case. Really just wish it was the Apple logo.

Yeah, fair enough, taste is subjective. The only thing I’m not sure is if I would prefer logo on the bottom, or centered as Bullstrap.

No! Not apple, for sure apple must be centered haha. I’m talking about third party cases, like Alex Goldfinch for example. Some days I prefer logo centered of Bullstraps, other bottom placed as Alex Goldfinch haha.
Oh ok, I see. I like them all centered if they are on the back. I like that RYAN London puts the initials on the bottom, I think they belong there.

hell yea!! ordered mine this morning. How is the fit, and is there still a significant indentation with the CC button or is it flush?
The dent is very slight with good sensitivity! The phone fit very well (tight click 4 corners)! Only the lock button isn’t clickable and need a little bit hard press…

Sorry for the late question. Is this case any thinner than the cutout version (if you have experience with that case).
