Thank you! I do recall you mentioning Lucky Coin on Amazon but I could never find them for the current iPhone there. I’ll keep checking though.
I also couldn’t find their iPhone 17 Pro case on Amazon… so I googled it and you can order direct. Mine has already shipped (directly from China).

My 15 Pro case was better than anything else I’ve had since iPhone X—truly top tier. The 16 Pro case was not nearly as good. It had a camera cutout (no go for me), and a much uglier/fatter (and asymmetrical) bulge around the camera, rather than the slim raised lip on the 15 Pro and other cases I’ve seen from them (like the 15 case I got my partner).

I really hope the 17 Pro is a return to form for them. The leather patinas beautifully, the case was very slim for the 15 Pro, and in general I couldn’t really find a fault.

I also ordered the Blue Bonnet, since it seems to tick all the boxes, but if the LC is as good as it was for the 15 series, then I’ll probably return BB since it’s 2x the price.

I did respond to my confirmation email asking if I could apply the 15% discount after the fact and they did so promptly, which was nice of them (and a reassuring alternative to the poor responsiveness others have experienced).

The new Lucky Coin is unsurprisingly the same style as Bullstrap… not for me!

Damn, I don’t think there was a photo anywhere when I ordered mine from their site. And ordering direct likely means returns are a no go… at least they’re cheap!

Now all my hope is resting on the Blue Bonnet case. I’m hoping it’s just a bad rendering, but it almost looks like BB has a cutout for the action button 🙄 which is such a 2023 faux pas, that I can’t even believe they’d do that. We’ll see…

I really hope LC releases one with a fully open camera bump area. One thing I’m loving about my tech woven is the lay-flat on the back situation with the new design. I’m going caseless about 50% of the time, but if I can’t find a good leather case, I’ll probably go naked most of the time. I got silver because I knew blue would show scratches very easily, and so far I’m pleasantly surprised with the clean look of silver. It would look great in a nice patinad saddle brown case though… so hopefully Blue Bonnet pulls through.

Does anyone have any experience with Luckycoin’s camera control button? Does it work well? Is the quality of it in the case good?
We shall see. They went with a cutout on the 16 Pro, which added to my overall feeling that last year’s case was a significant step back from the 15 Pro case. It had the ugly, bulbous, asymmetrical lip around the camera bump like the BS instead of the lower profile/thinner one of the 15. It also felt thicker/bulkier.

I ordered the new LC on Friday (before any photos showed the design… not sure I’m happy with the half covered camera bump—we’ll see). When it comes in I can let you know, but I expect the camera button to be fine since I haven’t used one yet that doesn’t work well, tbh. It seems easier to pull off than many initially thought. I suspect there are a few suppliers of these buttons for 3rd party cases, and they just seem to work in my experience across 3-4 cases.

I find it surprising how many people dislike this case. I much prefer this to the ones where the entire plateau is a cut-out, that looks hideous to me. This looks great.
It will rock on a table, which is a missed opportunity (this being the first phone in forever that can lay flat without rocking).

I also have concerns about it blocking some of the flash and/or lidar.

I ordered direct before they showed the design, which means I’ll probably be stick with it either way. At least it’s cheap, and I’ve mostly been very impressed with their quality (and the value is always there).

Thank you for the info. I was actually planning to order one for my 16 Pro so glad to hear your insight on that particular case as well. I hear you on the lip of the 16 case, definitely not as nice looking as it was on the 15 series.

Besides that, how was the actual leather? Did it patina well?

The leather always seems to be the same on their cases. It starts out dry, so a little leather balm/oil to start helps break it in a little faster. I couldn’t get past the cutout, so I barely used my LC last year (I rotated between Andar once they revamped with the button), and a Lonli (I think? The one that’s more of a nubuk). I assume it would have devoloped the same patina as my 15 pro case, which was excellent. I just wish they’d sprinkle whatever magic they had going with the 15 series designs into their newer ones. It was really a return to the golden days of apple saddle brown for me with the 15 pro case… less so with the 16 pro.

I ended up going caseless most of the year because all the cases I tried felt off in some way (and all felt a little too bulky for my liking). I may end up going the same route with the 17 Pro, since even a bit chunkier still than the 16 Pro, and it feels sooo good caseless.

I just need to not drop it on concrete/pavement, which I have done before with the 16 Pro. The titanium would dent very subtly, but overall handled corner hits like a champ. I am pretty sure the aluminum will get rough fast unless I improve my dripping track record from a few times to none.

I ordered the LONLI edition version for the 17 Pro. This is the version to get to develop the patina since their other versions have this coating on the leather.

The LC for the 15 Pro was far and away my favorite leather case too. It's a shame they never made the closed-bottom version for the 16 Pro (as far as I know).

Let us know how the new Bluebonnet case is. It seems they finally got it together and finally wrapped the entire case in leather vs the TPU sides.

I just got the Lonli in since it’s one of the nicer green leather cases I’ve seen. It’s beautiful, though the green on the camera ring and the buttons don’t match (hard to photograph, but I tried).

Wow.

Is this why some manufacturers are covering the camera bump with leather, instead of using a metal ring? To avoid bandwidth drop like this?

I suppose, though they could also just use plastic like apple or wrap in leather like Blue Bonnet is doing. I have high hopes for my BB case, though I wish they also did a green leather:

If you get one of these, there’s a discount coupon for 15% off: case15

I found this after I placed my order, but they retroactively applied it, which was cool.

Not sure if you’ve gotten any updates from them. I ordered on the 15th and didn’t get any updates until yesterday. They told me they sold out and mine is expected to ship first week of October. I let them know how misleading that is since their website still shows “Hurry Up! Only 2 unit(s) left!”

They also added a dedicated camera control button but have not added any photos of the case with the button to the listing. I’m guessing the actual delay isn’t because they sold out but because they are waiting on the cases with the button to come in. If they actually sold out, I’d imagine someone would have posted one on here by now.

Bullstrap certainly would have (and did not) mention this in their recent product video if this was the case. If this is indeed a benefit, it was unintentional.
Probably unintentional. Nobody knew how the plateau would be and how the edges are prone to scratching/lose material.

Got my Andar “The Aspen” for my iPhone Air today, and I’m pretty dissapointed. The cover is so nice, the buttons are so nice, BUT… the hole for the USB-C cable is way too small. Only my original Apple USB-C cable fits, but no others. Not my car cable, not my Macbook cable, not my 10 other USB-C cables.

My Ryan London has been sitting in a sorting facility in the US for 5 days now. Starting to think they lost it lol.

I received a reply from Farhad (BB's CEO) Yesterday. Mine is also supposedly shipping out first week of October. We shall see. He offered to buy me a cheap Amazon case to get me by until then, but I told him that wasn't necessary.

I think the reason being if they made the hole larger, it would make that section of the case extremely weak. It’s already a thin piece of plastic underneath, making it thinner would cause it to snap the first time you took the case off I expect.

I'd agree with that thinking. Having had both my Keyway and first Luckycoin break in exactly this way I went back to the open bottom case design with my second Luckycoin and its so much better. Swiping is nicer, I can fit any sized cable I want, its more comfortable on my pinky.

Saw this in another case thread:

From Andar Customer Service:

"We hope to have a solution soon and be able to offer the 17 Air again with a functional charger cutout. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and greatly appreciate your patience and understanding."

I purchased the "Edition" version so hopefully that ring around the camera is just leather/plastic.

Just received the Nomad modern case in burgundy chromexcel leather.

They sent an email after I ordered saying there might be a light waxy film on the leather and that’s what it was like when I opened the box. It smells amazing and the leather is so rich and soft.

It’s got a rich reddish purple colour and it’s very difficult to capture in photos. Actual colour is not as dark.

Absolutely in love with this!
