do Andar cases patina? they say so on their website but they don't mention if their leather is vegetable or chrome tanned?

Question for closed bottom folks: Do you find the cases to be susceptible to breakage when removing them, particularly around the USB port where the case gets very thin? I’ve been an open bottom leather case user for years (Bullstrap) and just got my first closed bottom case, a Nomad Modern Leather. It was a tight fit so the first time I removed it I tried to be as gentle as possible, and it still split above the USB port. Nomad has graciously agreed to replace it, but I’m leery of this being a recurring issue. Thoughts?
I’ve had a few cases split there so I’m team open bottom now.

Success!

Tried my second LC, this time around black, and it is the same fine quality my black LC for my 16+ was that I cherished.
Initially I thought I had a lemon since the power button would not actuate but removing the case and giving it a couple presses on both sides without the phone on broke it in. Phew, because I really did not wanna enter the lottery again... might've just stuck with the Lonli if I had to return another.

The dark brown I had for 17Pro and returned was really dry and sort of flaky/rough feeling.

This isn't completely smooth there is some slight texture to it, as would be expected / it is leather, but much smoother than the previous and feels like it was properly conditioned before it got shipped out.

I had a pretty similar experience with the light brown LC on 16+ too... it wasn't great quality and the brown literally flaked off to where I saw white material begin to appear underneath in a day or two. There may just be quality control fluctuation regardless of color, given the low price / where these are pumped out from, but even from other photos I saw of the black it appeared that this was more likely to be a winner material wise.

--

Pretty sure I'm going to keep both this AND my Lonli edition azure blue for variety as I love that color too / quality seems pretty good on the particular unit I got.

This is the dark brown that went back, where to the discerning eye, you can see it looks considerably more textured / dryer / resulting in a fake and disastisfying feeling (IMO):

Got my Nomad Horween Traditional Case in Rustic Brown today, and unfortunately for $85 I'm very disappointed. The color is significantly more red than represented on the site. And it came with a scratch above the power button. But I could potentially overlook both those things if it wasn't for the fact the case just doesn't fit well. The bottom isn't snug to the phone - you can see how the cutouts are misaligned and there's visible gap where the back begins to curve. It creates an uneven lip on the front where the bottom is more flush than the rest. It isn't that the case is loose there - it literally just doesn't fit...I'm squeezing it in the one picture and the gap remains. Picture of my Belemay case for reference that fits appropriately (and was also more of the color I was expecting for the Nomad).

The leather itself feels great but for this price I expect perfection, especially when there are better alternatives on Amazon for less than half the price.

This is my Andar - The Aspen after 32 days of use, on my iPhone Air. Thought it would have more patina now, tbh :D

Yikes dude, I'd reach out to Nomad and see if they can rush a replacement. I have the same case for the Pro and it didn't look like that at all.

Which leather case is the thinnest for the 17 pro?
I think it might be LuckyCoin the way it contours to the body . Feels pretty light and slim to me.

I would say it's between the LuckyCoin and the Nomad Traditional, depending on if you prefer flat sides vs rounded ones. The LuckyCoin rounded sides feel amazing, but it is ever so slightly wider than the Nomad Traditional.

Is the charging port cutout sharp and dig into your pinky? I had this case on the 15 Pro and it was one of the least uncomfortable closed-bottom cases I own.

Beware... a thin leather case makes it almost impossible to charge the iPhone Air, with the case on.

I dunno about Air but I got this thin end Anker cable because TechWoven opening is pretty small

Had some Lisen cables as well that were equally as thin but the cable not as durable / they were much cheaper @ like $1 per cable in a bundle a year or so ago.

Color and fit wise? I assume the bad fit is just a defect, but I'm not sure I want another anyway if its going to be the same red/purple tone, at least not for the price.

I didn't really use the case since I know I'll be returning it, but comparing it right now to my Belemay case, it is indeed a bit sharper/squared off whereas the Belemay is slightly beveled and flush feeling. Looking back at my pictures at full zoom, even the cutout is slightly jagged and sloppy on the nomad.

Here’s some more photos of the Bluebonnet iPhone 17 Pro case.

Looks defective. Their customer service is pretty good. Get in touch with them and I’m sure they’ll exchange it for you.

Just over three weeks with the Decoded. Still looks new with a bit of wear on the plateau, which I like. The leather is a little dry but I haven’t gotten around to treating it so could probably be better.

Overall still very happy with it. I don’t have anything for comparison but it feels very slim.
