Leather Cases - Patina Proud Photos

Yeah, the open bottom is a bit of a pain. I had this for my Pacific Blue 12 Pro Max, but I actually put a nice matching blue metallic tape I picked up from Michaels arts and crafts on the bottom just to protect it from scratching. It worked out well.

I still have to do the same for the silver 17 PM before I'll use this case daily...protect the exposed bottom area. May sound stupid to some, I just like to prevent my phones from scratches, especially this newer one that is a little more susceptible to scratches.

It doesn’t sound stupid at all. I am obsessive about keeping my phones in perfect condition. The staff at my local Apple Store are always surprised by the shape of my phones when I trade them in.

upgrading the mini, got it at launch along with the official apple case…we’ve been through some hard falls together but it’s time to hang it up.

“Mother Nature” really messed up when she got involved with Apple. Hopefully John Ternus does the right thing

But were they sanded down to make surface look uniform? From what I can see there’s no much visible natural pores on Apple Leather cases.

It actually changed drastically over the years, specifically for the iPhone 12 onwards (coincidentally when they introduced Magsafe). Leather on the cases up to iPhone 11 series was amazing, top notch, and definitely a nice grain and patina. Starting from series 12 up to the last one for the 14, it definitely changed for the worse as the leather was more “plasticky”, smoother, and real patina gave way to pretty much de-layering from friction, similar to what happens to vegan leather.

Can you share more photos and they’re said that these are pretty close to what Apple use to make. Would you say that’s accurate?
 
Even though it’s thicker I kinda like the boxiness of the Lonli Edition

The azure blue is doing it for me recently paired with the blue 17 pro as well and full plateau opening

I was on a lucky coin trip for a while when I was not using OEM silicone or Techwoven but I think Lonli has nicer quality leather and the lucky coin heats up quick wirelessly charging. Something about the synthetic material makes it like a nice wool blanket. The lonli dissipates heat better consistently.

Will be interesting to see how this wears and patinas if I use it more regularly. Should look quite rugged, hopefully in a cool way lol

I don’t even mind the camera control protruding slightly. easier to use than the recessed lucky coin even though the button itself feels more solidly engrained in there

Those are still the only two leather cases I have for this device. Didn’t go too crazy or overboard this gen. Hope to keep it that way! (Significant deep discounts may sway me if I hold onto 17 pro when the new iPhone comes out and places are clearing them out but )

as far as apple cases are concerned, I have only tried the 6s plus and iphone x leather cases before, which have the original feel that some ppl liked vs the iphone 12-14 ones.
I would say from the cases that i tried the muso ones are the closest feel wise to the saddle brown iphone x case. maybe ~90% of the feel. It has that same smooth leather feel and ages better imo. Wayyyyy better than the iphone 12 ones that's for sure, no competition there.
will get a black case one soon, and some black camera plateau protection thingy to live the stealth black iphone 17 promax dream.

would you say it patinas pretty quickly like the old apple leather cases?

How's the fit? I had one when they first came out and the bottom front barely covered the case. I wish it fit a bit better because I really liked how it felt.

Fit is really nice. Really snug around the phone and the bottom edges as well. I always prefer the open bottom for easy swiping. I have a friend with the RL closed version and you can just tell the leather quality is a step above on the open bottom version, so I’m definitely very satisfied the premium feel of the case.

If I had one small nitpick, it’d be that the top of the camera cutout didn’t quite meet the top edge of the camera plateau, which left a very small gap. I’m already noticing it less and less with use, so it’s not a bit deal at all.

I always prefer the open bottom also.
