Looks like a class action waiting to happen. Something gets inside, my guess a coin, and bam, scratched screen.

I don't think this case is marketed for general population like us that handle the phone all day. It's probably for someone like a grandma no joke.

Well, we women struggle in that most of our clothing lacks pockets altogether or has pockets that are too small to be useful. So this could be useful to a lot of women as an easy means of keeping the phone with us. Except it does look an awful lot like a luggage tag and we already do have a range of beautiful cases and clutches from major designers to Etsy crafters, available at a range of sensible prices.

My perception of this product is that it solves, very generally speaking, a typically female tech dilemma that has already been addressed. And it does so using a very specific aesthetic that limits it somewhat. It might look good with suits, but I promise you it would clash badly with my flowery pastel summer dresses. And those types of outfits are what I’d need something like this for. Maybe they will come out with seasonal colors, but this still is a rather stiff formal look.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. If I’m going to pay $130 for something made from a cow, it had better be a steak dinner.

My dad loves leather sleeves since he doesn't pull out his phone every two minutes like I do, but sits down and then just takes it out. Was hoping Apple would have a nice leather one I could get him, but I don't think this is it. And not that I'm stingy, but especially not at that price point.
AliExpress has them for 3$

Yeah it's definitely not something I'm interested in, but I could see where some might like something like that if they're not on their phone all the time— especially if they have an Watch too, so as to triage notifications... or just lack pockets and aren't complete digital fiends like myself— and I'll hazard to generalize, most folks on this forum.

I use my watch for most things when away from home. I don’t need to use or look at my mini all the time. As such, this sleeve may be to my liking. I will know very quickly and if it isn’t, back it will go. Hopefully, the strap can be removed.

"Is that my phone? Let me just reach in here. Pull this thing out of there. Then undo this thing....."

Seems practical!

Love it.
The iProtect system. Brushed aluminum and surgical-grade stainless steel cover with a soft, microfiber cushioning inside to protect your iPhone from the most rugged of circumstances. The three nested-case system offers three layers of lock and key protection, protecting your privacy.
Coming this fall for $1,499.
Frequent travelers may wish to purchase the optional wheel system accessory for $499.

Clearly, this is a woman's accessory, most likely to store your phone in when you throw it in your bag...I wouldn't use it, but hey.

The people commenting on the price are absolutely ridiculous! It is an Apple-branded product and is priced as such. I spent $130 for the navy blue leather sleeve for my MacBook, and while probably not worth the price to me in retrospect, I bought it because it is Apple-branded. The Hermes watch bands don't claim or seem to be any better than a $150 leather watchband from COACH, but they are priced at $500. Louis Vuitton sells $800 vinyl wallets and $4,000 vinyl bags. If you want to replace the floor mats in your Porsche with new floor mats made by Porsche, you're going to pay 10x what you would for a mat at Auto Zone.

This is essentially a piece of wardrobe/fashion, and not a technology accessory.

Holy crap, $130 for that? I have to admire Apple for so shamelessly pushing the price boundaries of what they think Apple customers are willing to spend.

”Specially tanned and finished European leather that develops a patina over time.” Maybe somebody could explain exactly what European leather is and how it’s any different than leather from anywhere else.

So, an overpriced leather sleeve that isn’t durable enough to maintain its look over time and wears out quickly. And that’s a feature? Does anybody want a patina on their phone case? A 100 year-old family heirloom gold or silver necklace would look nice with a patina, not an iPhone case.

Reminds me of Apple’s silicone case that I bought for my iPad Pro 9.7, where the raised buttons would wear flat very quickly (making locating the volume and power buttons by touch difficult), and after the second case wore out in just a few months I just stopping using them. Maybe that was a patina-feature too.

All nice leather develops a patina. We are not talking about a layer of crust on the Rosetta Stone. The most expensive leather products I can think of are Louis Vuitton bags, made with vinyl and trimmed in pale vachetta leather. This leather develops a much desired color change with use from beige to gold
