Pfft, the Aluminium MBPs are nothing, you should've seen the kinds of marks the white/black plastic Macbooks left. Made it seem like everyone tried to slit their wrists, with the deep red line it left. ><

Then the edge of the top case started splintering from the pressure of the screen lid when closed, and then it started drawing blood

narrow minded folks who probably never use their Mac laptops in mobile environments where you can not avoid making contact between your wrist and the body of the MBP.
Try riding a train, plane or subway and keeping your wrist elevated like Mavis Beacon taught you.
Or even when you just sit on a couch with the laptop on yout knees. Some people will tend to rest their hands on the computer to prevent it from sliding back.
But I guess you guys think the power button on the back of the Mac Pro/iMac/Mini is brilliant, and the SD card slot hidden on the back is no big deal.

I found this to be a problem on my 13" to which apple person said "we do have some people return and upgrade to 15", which what I did. Very happy with my 15" and it is Not an issue.
Exactly my experience, no issue on my 15" as well. Now my travel MacBook Air feels like a dull knife on my wrists.

What a bunch of naysayers.

So you don't need one? OK, maybe someone does.

More power to somebody that can sell $2 worth of aluminum with 2 minutes worth of machining for $40.... or since this is kick starter, NOTHING for $40 (all the $30 early bird models are gone).

I am curious how they are getting the anodizing to match so well. Or maybe photoshop makes everything better...
