For me its quiet simple. I have ordered and payed for my leopard and if it doesn`t come on the 26th, I`m just gonna download it over torrent, install it and wait for my legal copy to come later. I like my mac being all legal, but its just not fair here in the UK that we will get it later than most of the people in the world, especially when the release is on the weekend when people have most time to install it and test/setup everything they need. Before I get flamed for mentioning downloading leopard, remember that I have already paid for mine therefore it doesn`t matter how I get it, I own a legal license.
i have jus cancelled my order with apple and placed it with amazon too. shipping date is for the 24th and expected delivery is the 25th, ive paid for faster shipping too. hopefully it will atleast arrive on the 26th now. noticed in an email from apple it says shipping on the 26th, my status also still said 26th for shipping.

I received Panther and Tiger from Apple via CityLink courier the day before official launch day here in Sheffield UK so my guess is that it will probably happen again.
Wicked, im still tempted to go to the apple shop and buy it instead but im workin that day and i duno how busy it will be, never been to a launch before have u
You must have been very lucky with Panther, as this very long thread shows. Many people had to wait a week as Apple just sent them in the normal post. My Tiger came on the Tuesday after.
Mine won't arrive until next week. To get the $69 student version, I had to pre-order it from my university bookstore, who has pre-ordered it from Apple. And since our University Bookstore is at the main campus in our system two hours away, that means they won't ship it to me until the day after they receive it, so, mine won't arrive until Tuesday or Wednesday.
But, hey, for $60 off, I'm really feeling that I can get over it.

Now, most of the time the "ships by" date is not in CAPITALS... so I'm thinking it's all mis-information - and they won't update it until friday no matter when it's actually going to arrive.

I decided to get overnight just to be safe back a few weeks ago. I still show "Prepared for Shipment".
I did this. Amazon.co.uk is £10 cheaper and express delivery (over night) is about £8. It should arrive by Thursday is they ship Wednesday.
They are all shipping overnight even the free shipping. It will be there on or before Friday morning. This is my 3rd Apple OS I have preordered and both the other two were either here the night before or the day of, and I live in the middle of the country. So it is useless or a waste of money to pay for overnight shipping.
I have orders placed with both the UK Apple Store (on-line) and Amazon UK, but I really don't think either order will ship in time for delivery on Friday (or Saturday, for that matter).
While Amazon UK suggests Leopard will ship on Thursday for delivery on Friday, I believe this is wrong. The UK Apple Store (on-line) and Apple retail stores will be the first to receive stock. The likes of PC World and Amazon et all are usually left hanging for a good week or two. Amazon UK are prone to making mistakes like these on orders or on the product page itself.
I'll probably be heading to my local (by local, I mean two hours away) Apple retail store Friday night to try and snag a copy (if they have any). Maybe I'll be surprised and get a shipping e-mail later in the week.

Mine was shipped yesterday (Oct 22) too and according to fedex its in Virginia Beach, VA "Out for Delivery" last scanned at 5:43am
Yes, I found that out a few updates ago. I had ordered expedited, only to later find out even the ground orders were expedited. I called up Apple customer service and they gave me a refund on the shipping. Just a hint to those in the US that paid for shipping.
