Might have been mentioned elsewhere, but Desktopple Pro (shareware) has both a desktop hiding feature and a menubar opacity feature, if you want to do both from one app ( and doesn't show on dock)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but i didn't find any answers in previous posts, but:

1: MenuShade dock icon? Any way to get rid of it?
2: Any way to keep Menu shade always active? I hate how it unshades it when I do anything in the menu bar.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are utils out there to hide dock items...I'm lazy tonight. Can't remember the name. Do a search on macupdate. As for turning off unshading. Just set all the levels to same.

tried it, both though editing plist files and the programs to hide apps, dont do it with menushade, it will mess the program up and it will not work.

As described in another post with pic, you could use a custom icon and create "stacks" like this.

attachment.php

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/3742534/

That's the first thing I thought of when I saw Stacks. The right side of my dock has been littered with folders forever. I just wish saved searches worked in the Tiger dock, maybe that'll be my excuse to upgrade...

Quickie Grass w/ 3D Dock

Here's a quickie that works okay if you have a ton of icons like me and are using ClearDock.

I had to rez the jpg down a bit because of the forum limit - Hit me up if you want the full-res version.

Ooops - another one...

Well, that image had some problems at 1280x1024, so here's one with a more slender dock. (BTW, I guess the advanced Manage Attachments feature is broken here in Safari?)

nice work moonislune

Regarding Overflow, I don't really think this is important. I had it a while back, but then I realised I could just create a new folder, put aliases of apps in there, and shove the folder in the dock. Means that I don't have to wait for an app to have to load.

The dock looks good. :) But then, if you check out the real Leopard dock:
http://images.apple.com/macosx/leopard/features/images/desktop_gallery_stackszoom20070611.jpg

You'll notice that there's some curved line through it.

PS: You'll also see from the link that the Dock now has shadows from the apps. :)

Strange, I've read and looked at Leopard a lot the last few days, but I just looked at the picture you linked to, and it really hit home how amazing that is going to look.

Just did some practicing on stacks and can see why they are curved, really works well. If it were a straight line up I think I would miss but the slight curve follows the natural movement of my hand.

IF you are right-handed. Maybe there is a configuration option to "swoop left" for the lefties out there.

The curved line is because it is semi-transparent and picking up one of the blades of grass behind (below?) it. It appears to be both semi-transparent and reflective at the same time. Kinda like "glass".

But I'm guessing you saw that - and were likely making some other point that I'm completely missing, no?

JPG and PNG of fakedock

Hey Dinny,

Here's a new jpg. I matched the original a bit more, just for fun. :)

Send me an email from my site (fadsites.com or primaryelements.com - I get them all) and I'll shoot you a PNG that you should be able to use in PS.

Well, I didn't really see that. But, I just checked my current desktop. The Leopard one. And found out that the image wasn't really put to 'fit to screen.'
Mine is, that's why I see a huge gap on where the dock should be and the position of the dock in the picture. :)

I'm an idiot. I'm not understanding what application or feature is allowing the dock to disappear and allow only the icons to show. I really like this look. Can someone please point me out to an idiots guide on how to do this since I'm missing something? thanx.

Gee whiz nobody helped you, so i'll be the one. You need to go to http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15895 and your done. :) And yes it looks so much better.

Does anyone have any desktop hiding solutions when using multiple wallpapers? Annoyingly, Camouflage doesn't like the "Change Picture" option in the system preferences... And I've currently got a bit of a Transformers thing going on, with Prime and Megatron being cycled through every 5 minutes...

Any one wanna place bets on how long it will be before someone leaks a copy of the near final Leopard on torrent sites? lol

Nice job on the dock. If you download A-DockX, you can use your image (if you split it into 3 parts) as a dock theme in A-Dock. The benefit of using A-DockX is that when your dock expands or contracts, so will your image.
