The computers will get upgraded at some point, it will just be a different event.

Just look at the intel roadmap to get a hint of when it may happen.

Yes, the Intel roadmap. The way an adult company operates. Montevina mobile chipsets were announced as being available in August, and everyone, except Apple, is shipping laptops based on them NOW.

The built in remote (and mic, which isn't surprising) only works on the 4th gen nanos, 2nd gen touches, and newest classic iPod. They won't work with the 1st gen touch, or the iPhone. There's still no remote available (from Apple) for the iPhone or original touch (he remote/FM tuner works on the older iPods but not the touch, maybe not the 3rd gen nano).

I don't know what there is to be confused about.

i beleive i quoted you on the headphones part of it, i dont care about the remote

Just got up (Wed morning here in Australia) watched the video/read the coverage.

Wow. If I was a journalist who'd hauled *** all the was from NY to SF for that presentation I'd be sweating on putting the expense report in to my editor. The conversation would be something like: "So you blew a grand on the company Amex to see Apple launch some new coloured iPods?"

God, I hope no journos from this part of the world made the trip across the Pacific - that could be a career-ending trip.

Has anyone checked to see if the Apple Town Hall is under renovation? That's the only reason I could think of for holding it in an external venue.

All that expectation for nothing.

I don't disagree that Apple has a number of computer products that should be updated ASAP. My point is simply that it wouldn't happen at an iPod event.

So you check all your smart playlists. What am I missing?

The sync transfers the literal contents of the 'smart' playlists, not just the 'rule' so you end up with more music than can fit on the iPod. The only solution is to uncheck a bunch of music before syncing, which is a pita for many reasons. It's a broken system and unfortunately I've heard nothing about it being fixed in iTunes 8.

I woke up in the early hours to look...I could have slept in

I agree. I was just hoping for one more thing. A small bone tossed to Apple's red headed step children, computer users. Like at least one computer related update. :(

During this year I have had feelings that Apple's passion and ambition seems to be moving away from computers to iPhone/iPod. Maybe Apple should make two divisions, and put Steve to media device division, and give the computer division for someone else to lead - someone who has passion for it.

Firstly, I would like to say to all the people who are complaining about everything in the keynote, get over it. Seriously.

Btw, do they usually have a person singing for 10 minutes after the keynote (at music related ones)?

I agree.
