No matter what happens tonight, I'm getting the Samsung Galaxy S II. ;)

It's just because NTT Docomo don't offer the iPhone and our company has a corporate account with them. :(

What's the email client on them like?

On the S2? Depends, it comes with Samsung email app (which is quite nice), the gmail app, which is pretty much the same as it is in iOS and leaves a lot to be desired, or you can just bookmark the mobile site which is quite nice.

If you're going to get an S2 it'd be worth waiting a month or so for the S2HD (WHY DO THEY PUT SO MANY LETTERS THERE :S ) It's the S2 Hardware with a 1280x720 SAMOLED+ Screen (Equivalent to retina) and some more hardware bumps, maybe even NFC, Or wait till the end of the year for the Nexus Prime, but if you need it sooner I'd honestly say just wait the few weeks for the GS2 HD.

3 hours away from seeing the iPhone 4S and having Sprint announced as the third (rate?) carrier. Anything else you guys can think of to make this thing interesting?

iOS5 and the latest updates on the iCloud. That should be the real kicker.

Thats what I was trying to get at with my first post. Wish I hadn't bothered now.

I predict the iPhone 5 will indeed have an NFC chip in it. This rumor fell out of favor during the last several months, but I think it's going to be there - this phone will be the flagship for at least another year, and the chips are ready.

Also.. A major new low power LTE chip was just announced as well, just a week ago or so I think. Coincidence? Remember back when Steve said LTE chips took too much power and they had to wait for lower power chips?

Amazing how soooo many people get worked up over a phone!! Apple has done its job well!! I mean seriously losing sleep over a press release!! Funny thing once the new Iphone release comes and goes then its back to wanting more for next year. Cycle starts all over again. Thats why apple banks on this. My wife works for a major marketing firm in New York City and Apple is one of there clients. She has amazing stories some days on how they operate.

Needless to say I have an Iphone 4 heavily jailbroken without one glitch and operates amazingly daily. Unless apple releases a new device that has a bigger screen I will most likely stick with current model. My processor is just as fast with clock up. I already speak text for messages and so much more. I would say my Iphone jailbroken is equivalent to and Iphone 10 once apple catches up with all the tweaks!

A bigger screen with an IOS jailbreakable 5 would be great but not holding my breath.

As for sprint getting one phone not likely as instructed by my wife

In fact, the Mywi tethering app alone on Cydia will make me wait until the new phone is jailbroken. Even if it does have a larger screen.

Wanna know what I find even more amazing? That an intelligent, professional, driven, highly paid woman employed by a world renown, fast-paced New York City marketing firm would marry a man who can't spell.

this is the line up

1. iPod how its been 10 years blah blah (You Know how apple talks bear nonsense to sill consumers) phase out classic and shuffle...iPod Touch in white
2. iPhone 4 8GB Blah and more Blah
3. iPhone 4S $349 and more blah
4. iPhone 5+Assistant
5. talk software crap crap Facebook new app for iPhone and iPad and Sparta crap and all other software crap and feature nonsense.

Thanks again.

You should copy this thread and email it to your wife. Maybe she gets the hint and you find an iPhone 5 under the xmas tree.;)

Assistant is going to be much more awesome than many people think - nothing like Android. Sure, you'll be able to dictate like Android, but remember that Siri (the tech Apple bought) is not about voice recognition, but about command interpretation.

If I tell Siri "I wish I had a pickle", it will immediately look for a restaurant nearby that serves pickles. Look at the amount of interpretation Siri had to do. It had to figure out that pickles are food, that "I wish I had" means I want to buy one, that I probably want to buy one nearby, that food is served in restaurant. Between Siri technology and Wolfram technology (also rumored to be in Assistant), you should be able to ask it virtually anything and get a reasonable response. That's a lot of brains, and Siri works even on the 3G. Think about the increased power of an iPhone 5. I'm sure we are going to enjoy some fantastic demos today.

That does sound interesting, imagine what apple could do with this technology in its commercials. If they combine this technology with their iPad-type of commercials for the iPhone it'd be great

Pickle might not have been the best choice here

My last post before the big announcement. I expect:

1) iPhone 4 with 8 gb for the lower end

2) iPhone 4S for the higher end. It will be just slightly faster than the current iPhone 4 and have a slightly better camera, but Apple will downplay those issues and instead claim that the Assistant feature will revolutionize the world. Which of course it won't - it will be just one gimmick and barely used feature.

I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right I'll just stick to my iPhone 3GS and hope that the iPhone 6 (5?) will have a better design than a brick made of glass.

"Brick made of glass" ??!!

If the screen gets bigger, and I think it will, the number of pixels will remain the same. This keeps it compatible with all apps. I think the screen can grow a bit while still retaining "retina" quality. You'll just have to look at it from 14 inches instead of 12!

iPhone 4S will definitely have Assistant.

The iPhone 5 should have a 4-4.3" screen with a 3x vertical/horizontal resolution compared to the iPhone 2/3G/3G S

1440x960

The technology is there, so it's not impossible:

Toshiba can't compete on reputation, quality, apps, user experience, multi touch and so on, let them willy wave, it will still sell less than Apple 3GS

When he said wife I replaced with mom

My last bet for today launch:

iPhone 4S A5, 8-16gb, same cameras, cheaper plastic case and gorilla glass screen.

iPhone 5 faster A5, 16/32/64GB, 4"+, Gesture enabled Home Button, aluminium or ceramic case.

Both: display same resolution as iPhone 4, NFC, Pentaband CDMA/GSM 3.5G (WCDMA @ 850/900/AWS/1900/2100).

They also need to redesign it just to shut people up about the antenna. If it has the same form factor everyones just gonna be complaining about their cell reception when the thing comes out regardless if there's a problem or not.

I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed more. The antenna issue was a lot of bad press and I'd bet there are a significant number of people who skipped the 4 just because of that - if the next model looks the same they might still not want to get it, but if the design has changed they might be more inclined to get it.

Really with the bad first impression the 4 made, wouldn't apple WANT to move to a different design, even if it's nothing more than a different look, sooner rather than later?

A display doesn't usually need to have apps :D
I was saying Toshiba could manufacture these screens for the new 4"+ iPhone 4
