Let's Talk iPhone Event

LTE is not widespread enough yet, and the chips are not available in the quantities required for iPhones. Not going to happen, IMO.
branjmb said:all the evidence or lack thereof of an iPhone 5 can be explained by: Apple is WAY more cautious about the iPhone 5 than the 4S. They don't care if the 4S is leaked through iTunes, but the iPhone 5 is huge.
as for the idea that the iPhone 5 case designs are based off of prototypes-- they definitely didn't get that deep into a redesign and then ditch it for an "S" model.
and the BIGGEST argument...
They didn't need another 4 MONTHS to squeeze a 8mp camera and an A5 in an iPhone 4 body.
I rest my case. If there's no iPhone 5, I'm sure steve jobs is not happy with Tim Cook (since Tim has been running Day to day for over a year). Apple MUST know they will take a HUGE hit without a redesign. Giving me assistant and a better camera will not make me forget i Don't have a gorgeous, new, and "unique" phone.
And where are the pics, the parts? Nothing.
Don't Apple normally like to say
"and it's available to download... Today!"
I reckon we're getting iOS 5 tomorrow
You forgot the main problem, 3-5 hour battery life. The first iPhone was 3G even though I believe 3G was far more wide spread at the time than LTE is now.
I'll be getting whatever is announced tomorrow, for this will be my first iPhone. I am very excited to see what'll happen.![]()
Battery life isn't an issue if the technology isn't ready ...
and the first iPhone was EDGE, not 3G.
I'd be more tempted by WP7 if Microsoft would have a reasonable upgrade schedule. They're doing interesting work but man are they slow.
Whoops, that was supposed to be a wasn't (notice how the sentence self contradicts without it).
I know a guy in cupertino his name is Rick Raname. I can't tell you what and where he works exactly within apple organization. I tried pushing him in questions and he won't answer to anything for fear of losing his job.
So Apple give him credit and a raise and a promotion because he is faithful and said nothing TO ME! I am the most obnoxious, pushy person you can ever meet.
The one thing he did say, is Apple will surprise the heck out of us all. They have been trying for so long to keep some things secret and somehow always it leaked. They are really pushing to keep the hush hush on this one.
So i can almost guarantee that it is not only going to be an iPhone 4S. He said that this is the biggest conceal job ever done by Tim Cook and Apple. One of the main reasons he was chosen by Steve to take over was his big belief in company secrets and discreetness. We can only blame Tim Cook for this one.
They have something very very special up there sleeves and has kept it so so quiet. Good job. It is not easy in suck a nosey world where people will pay for info and greedy people all over.
I have known this for the past 3 weeks and did not write anything on it. I see how many people need to know and are dying at not knowing. So since it is tomorrow i thought i would make everyone's life just a bit better for the next few hours.
BTW: The iPod Touch line is also getting a heck of a change.
Let's enjoy the ride!!

In the almost 9 years that I've been a member of macrumors.com, I think this is probably the most enigmatic lead up to any event I've seen. iPod, iPhone, iPad evenTV were more or less predicted. I truly believe that this is way more than just an update to iPhone. What exactly, I don't know, but it's gonna be a biggee.
I don't think Microsoft is doing a horrible job. They are just have a whole lotta catching up to do because they left it so later to enter the game. And while they are catching up in some areas, they also have to keep moving forward in others to keep up with Apple and Google.
Microsoft has some impressive people on the Windows Phone team who are very passionate about the platform, building relationships with developers and driving their innovation forward. A lot of people have counted them out. I think with the Nokia deal, Microsoft will charge past Apple sooner than people expect in terms of marketshare. And then with their powerful patent portfolio continuously driving up the cost of Android, you'll probably see more and more handset makers just going with Microsoft and cut back on Android devices.

Huge leap forward for software. Mediocre leap forward for hardware.
I'll still buy one since I can sell my unlocked/jailbroken iPhone 4 for as much as a new on-contract phone with AT&T will cost.
