Tomorrow

Exciting for sure. The article was well-written as far as the likelihood of the rumors.

I'd love to see an iPhone 5, but being on the 3GS and unable to get iPhone 4 cause of the 2-year contract...I'm excited about any update.

I would think they'd want to hit this one out of the park, though!

LTE is not widespread enough yet, and the chips are not available in the quantities required for iPhones. Not going to happen, IMO.

You forgot the main problem, 3-5 hour battery life. The first iPhone wasn't 3G even though I believe 3G was far more wide spread at the time than LTE is now.

all the evidence or lack thereof of an iPhone 5 can be explained by: Apple is WAY more cautious about the iPhone 5 than the 4S. They don't care if the 4S is leaked through iTunes, but the iPhone 5 is huge.

as for the idea that the iPhone 5 case designs are based off of prototypes-- they definitely didn't get that deep into a redesign and then ditch it for an "S" model.

and the BIGGEST argument...
They didn't need another 4 MONTHS to squeeze a 8mp camera and an A5 in an iPhone 4 body.

I rest my case. If there's no iPhone 5, I'm sure steve jobs is not happy with Tim Cook (since Tim has been running Day to day for over a year). Apple MUST know they will take a HUGE hit without a redesign. Giving me assistant and a better camera will not make me forget i Don't have a gorgeous, new, and "unique" phone.

They could never have hidden the supply chain for a new screen.

Apple will be announcing one of the biggest advancements in computer interface technology ever tomorrow so any sort of hardware will pale in comparison.

And where are the pics, the parts? Nothing.

did it cross your mind that Apple is trying much harder to keep it quiet this time? They can't possibly care if the "4S" is leaked, because it was leaked by iTunes itself. The iPhone 5 is probably off the books completely.

Battery life isn't an issue if the technology isn't ready ...

and the first iPhone was EDGE, not 3G.

I swear,,

I know a guy in cupertino, his name is Rick Raname. I can't tell you what and where he works exactly within apple's organization. I tried pushing him in questions and he won't answer to anything for fear of losing his job.

So Apple please give him credit and a raise and a promotion because he is faithful and said nothing TO ME! I am the most obnoxious, pushy person you can ever meet.

The one thing he did say, is Apple will surprise the heck out of us all. They have been trying for so long to keep some things secret and somehow it always leaked. They are really pushing to keep the hush hush on this one.

So i can almost guarantee that it is not only going to be an iPhone 4S. He said that this is the biggest conceal job ever done by Tim Cook and Apple. One of the main reasons he was chosen by Steve to take over was his big belief in company secrets and discreetness. We can only blame Tim Cook for this one.

They have something very very special up there sleeves and have kept it so so quiet. Good job. It is not very easy in such a nosey world where people will pay for info and greedy people all over.

I have known this for the past 3 weeks and did not write anything on it. I see how many people need to know and are dying at not knowing. So since it is tomorrow i thought i would make everyone's life just a bit better for the next few hours.

BTW: The iPod Touch line is also getting a heck of a change.

Let's enjoy the ride!!

I'd be more tempted by WP7 if Microsoft would have a reasonable upgrade schedule. They're doing interesting work but man are they slow.

I don't think Microsoft is doing a horrible job. They are just have a whole lotta catching up to do because they left it so later to enter the game. And while they are catching up in some areas, they also have to keep moving forward in others to keep up with Apple and Google.

Microsoft has some impressive people on the Windows Phone team who are very passionate about the platform, building relationships with developers and driving their innovation forward. A lot of people have counted them out. I think with the Nokia deal, Microsoft will charge past Apple sooner than people expect in terms of marketshare. And then with their powerful patent portfolio continuously driving up the cost of Android, you'll probably see more and more handset makers just going with Microsoft and cut back on Android devices.

In the almost 9 years that I've been a member of macrumors.com, I think this is probably the most enigmatic lead up to any event I've seen. iPod, iPhone, iPad even :apple:TV were more or less predicted. I truly believe that this is way more than just an update to iPhone. What exactly, I don't know, but it's gonna be a biggee.

I am so excited for tomorrow! I will be buying whatever is announced tomorrow since it will be my first smartphone! :apple: I actually don't mind the current design of the iPhone 4 so I wont be upset if it is the same.

So should we expect an iPhone 5? and be disappointed?

Funny how you say this though, because Tim Cook was in charge of Operations within Apple, so he knows his supply-chain tricks down.

New Mac Pros, MacBook Pros, iMacs, Mac Minis, AppleTV refresh with Magic Remote. And of course the entire iPod product line will be refreshed with the Classic killed off completely. So a lot of announcements expected tomorrow.

First Iphone... I'll get whatever it is

Verizon is the only carrier worth a damn where I live and work. I'm finally ready to renew my contract and have been craving an Iphone forever.

If all we get is a 4S, I'll live, and so will everyone else! Sure there will be some whining and complaining by a small but vocal minority.

Apple will break every record in sales, make all the money in the world. Next week we will be scouring the sites hoping the Ipad 3 has a retina display. It won't

A small vocal minority will complain, Apple will make record profits.

Excited!

I find that title of the invite quite mysterious and exciting, because it can mean both "let's talk iPhone" as in let's talk about iPhone, AND "let's talk iPhone" as in let iPhone talk!
But whatever is released tomorrow, so long as it's not a similar-looking iPhone, I am happy. I feel like a kid on christmas day (or eve here...)!

I think you're overestimating the Nokia deal. Creating a "favorite" OEM isn't the way to improve relations with those companies. Google has a similar problem with Motorola (potentially). I don't disagree that the WP7 team is good, I just think Microsoft is going to screw it up (not nearly as bad as HP...oh boy did the board screw HP up bad). I doubt the WP7 team will be able to take Microsoft out of stagnation unless Microsoft does something gutsy (and by gutsy I don't mean scoop out the Start menu and slap Metro in its place). The kind of risks that Apple makes almost every year just isn't in Microsoft's blood.

The risk Apple is making right now is iCloud. They're basically demoting Macs and PCs (products still in their prime) with iCloud. iCloud is bigger than people think all because it doesn't look pretty and fit in your pocket. Microsoft would't dare to slaughter the cow that is Windows (naming WP7 Windows is evidence enough).

Tomorrow's iPhone Announcement in a nutshell:

Huge leap forward for software. Mediocre leap forward for hardware.

I'll still buy one since I can sell my unlocked/jailbroken iPhone 4 for as much as a new on-contract phone with AT&T will cost.

Mediocre hardware update? Have u seen the projected benchmarks with A5? That alone is huge, leaping the iPhone ahead of anything in the market.

Then again if all u do is calls and SMS then stick to a ten year old nokia and you will be overly satisfied.
