I think Apple did need the extra 4 months to squeeze an A5 and maybe a better camera into the 4S- but that's because they spent the first 12 months after last years release finishing the redesigned iPhone 5.

I know a guy in cupertino, his name is Rick Raname. I can't tell you what and where he works exactly within apple's organization. I tried pushing him in questions and he won't answer to anything for fear of losing his job.

So Apple please give him credit and a raise and a promotion because he is faithful and said nothing TO ME! I am the most obnoxious, pushy person you can ever meet.

The one thing he did say, is Apple will surprise the heck out of us all. They have been trying for so long to keep some things secret and somehow it always leaked. They are really pushing to keep the hush hush on this one.

So i can almost guarantee that it is not only going to be an iPhone 4S. He said that this is the biggest conceal job ever done by Tim Cook and Apple. One of the main reasons he was chosen by Steve to take over was his big belief in company secrets and discreetness. We can only blame Tim Cook for this one.

They have something very very special up there sleeves and have kept it so so quiet. Good job. It is not very easy in such a nosey world where people will pay for info and greedy people all over.

I have known this for the past 3 weeks and did not write anything on it. I see how many people need to know and are dying at not knowing. So since it is tomorrow i thought i would make everyone's life just a bit better for the next few hours.

BTW: The iPod Touch line is also getting a heck of a change.

Let's enjoy the ride!!

KK :D:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

you truly made me way less worried about being stuck with a 4S. :) :apple:

Exactly

So should we expect an iPhone 5? and be disappointed?

Funny how you say this though, because Tim Cook was in charge of Operations within Apple, so he knows his supply-chain tricks down.

Exactly right on Tim Cook. I am telling you this guy Rick has been working there for over 6 years and is in a pretty good position.

I think it is safe to only say that we are getting something very very special.

Mediocre hardware update? Have u seen the projected benchmarks with A5? That alone is huge, leaping the iPhone ahead of anything in the market.

Then again if all u do is calls and SMS then stick to a ten year old nokia and you will be overly satisfied.

The ten year old nokia is probably better than most of the dumb phones you can buy today, sadly. Dumb phones wouldn't be so bad if they weren't designed to fail in less than a year.

Outcomes and reactions

Only one iPhone 4s: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO me want redesign!

iPhone 4s and iPhone 5, but sprint exclusivity on iPhone 5: Jailbreak/unlock time :)

iPhone 4s and iPhone 5: YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!

Yeah, old Nokias make the best dumb phones

You're new here. The first and second reaction will pretty much be all you see regardless of what happens.

I just dont see how apple could only add the A5 and a better camera to design that's been out for 18months. Even the ipad2 added A5, 2 cameras, thinner, lighter etc and that was only after 12 months. Historically Apple makes a design change every other year. Assistant will be cool and the media will run with it but I dont think thats enough for this presentation. If i had to guess...

+ 3gs free with no contract or 8gb iphone 4 w/A4 chip
+ iphone 5 w/ 4G (not LTE), 4" screen, new design (thinner etc), 8MP camera, A5
+ Assistant
+ Maybe facebook interation into iOS and/or ipad App
+ new ipod touch refresh... maybe more capacity only and better camera
+ possible small changes to macbook pro, imac, and air

i doubt any info on a apple tv

I could care less about this assistant stuff...

I bet your grandpappy said the same thing about the mouse back in 1985

Wouldn't that be punch cards?

I can not believe this Sprint exclusivity thing is getting attention...

Apple will not piss off non-Spring customers (that is to say... EVERYONE) like that.

The delay was because of the assistant feature. That is the heart of the new iPhone.

We'll all be patients soon from heart attacks with these rumors every year.

It is a just a piece of hardware. Simply an object we all know and love. Just a device that rules our life. A simple, yet complex device that connects us to the world. I nearly said, "Chill Winston...It's just a phone". but "Chill Winston...It's just a day" Take a few benadryl and drink a pint of whiskey. You'll come due about announcement time.

I know. I don't believe it one bit, but it had to be a reaction. The sprint is paying money to get the iPhone thing(which is believable) came from the Wall Street Journal. The sprint exclusivity thing came from BGR. Who do you believe?

Who said anything about pissing anyone off?

It makes perfect sense from a technological perspective:

Apple releases iPhone 5 on Sprint with WiMax
Apple releases iPhone 4S on AT&T and Verizon
In a few months, Apple releases iPhone 5 on AT&T and Verizon with LTE.

In short, at this point in time, LTE is not ready for Apple. WiMax is a 4G service that is widespread enough for adoption of the iPhone.

What would really be dope is if apple rolled out a 7" tablet @ $250 just to squash amazon. But anyway I do think that Apple knows they have to compete more than ever. Assistant and A5 will not be enough to totally reiterate its position as the best phone far and away. 4" screen, new design, A5, assistant, 4G, new carriers, ios5, 8MP camera will crush everyone. Throw in a 7" tablet and apple stock = 400 tomorrow midday

In France they started selling the iphone 4 at 99 euros (with contract) a couple days ago with people standing in line like it was the new iphone :)

9to5Mac:

"We’ve got international pricing for the iPhone 4S (N94) that Apple is announcing tomorrow. The conversion to U.S. subsidized equivalents is obviously not clear cut math, but we think we may have figured it out. According to our source, the price of the unlocked 64GB iPhone 4S will replace the price of the current 32GB iPhone 4. In addition, the price of the new 32GB iPhone 4S will replace the price of the current 16GB iPhone 4.

With this knowledge, we think it’s highly likely that the 64GB iPhone 4S will cost $299, the 32GB will cost $199, and the 16GB will drop down to $99 in the United States. The 8GB iPhone 4 (N90A) will most likely cost $49, which will replace the current $49 iPhone 3GS price point. MacRumors reports that Apple will soon begin sales of an unlocked iPhone 3GS. A free iPhone 3GS on contract seems to make sense here."
