I closes a lot tighter. Before there were two clips on each side to hold it. Now it's one big clip on the clasp, make a deep sound when it clicks in. It fits my super thick Chinese lightning cable by the bed perfectly.

Thank god!! I went through like 6 cases.
I want to get one. But I just picked up the griffin summit case

The latest version of the fre still have the nasty oil slick/rainbow marks under the plastic screen protector?

Is there anyway to remove the oil slick/rainbow??

I'm still on the fence about getting the LifeProof Fre for my 6s Plus. I really like the looks of the case, but I keep hearing about the same problems (sound and screen protector).

I returned my Fre. I didnt have sound issues, but the oil slick/rainbow drove me crazy. As did the gap on the screen
Gap??...I was under the impression that the LifeProof Fre was a VERY tight fitting case.
What kind of gap?

Those are caused by the properties of light, it is being spread into multiple wavelengths because it is passing through curved surfaces. When the screen is on they should be much less noticeable than when off.

Interesting...are you saying that the screen protector on the Fre has doesn't lay completely flat causing "gaps" and curves between the two screens?

Yes, the 6/6s have curved screens themselves and the screen protector is flat. Curved glass likely is not helping them anytime soon. :(

@jgelin , do you actually have the LifeProof Fre and what is your suggestion. Is it worth getting it?
I have nuud and always have. I waited until the nuud came out for my 6s+ to even go back to lifeproof, just was super careful with the Apple Black Leather case. I much prefer the screen accessibility over the consistent protector. The fre screen can be scratched and it stays on the actual case, I can always get the replacement screen protectors for my nuud.

Kinda late on my response here. The "rainbowing" was a bit much for me.

On the gap front, I didnt like having to press with additional force just to make contact. It also created a tapping noise, which my OCD didn't let me get over.

Ironic so much about screen rainbow is mentioned here. Exactly what drove me away from LifeProof... It was horrendous on both of the 6 life proofs I have. :-/

Wow. That bad? I'm really beginning to wonder if it's worth getting.

I had a Fre on my 6. Actually did a RMA on the case because of rain bowing. They sent me a new one out, revised with bigger charge hole etc, ZERO questions asked. So while I must commend their customer service, the "new" case is as bad as or worse than early version. Yeah while not nearly as noticeable when screen is on, it's there. And just enough to personally drive me bonkers. To each their own however. It's a shame, I truly love the case, and recently upgraded to 6S+ and debated their Fre for it as was on my 6, and for me, this time, I'm not willing to spend another ~$90 to gamble on more rainbows. Not my thing.

I wonder if LifeProof is working to resolve this screen issue? Or if it's even possible to fix?

Yea, I haven't a clue mate. I'm guessing they can't/won't fix it. I guess, personally, a case for over $80 I expect to be perfect. I think a few post above is a wiki to more info about how/why rainbows exist on it but perhaps their isn't anything that can be done to resolve the problem? Something about the curvature of the glass or something...

I agree with you. $80+ for a case means that I should/supposed to be totally satisfied.

Yes an iPhone 6s will fit the iPhone 6 lifeproof case but not perfectly... The camera is not perfectly centered, but this is my first time having a lifeproof case so I do not know if that's ever been a problem. It doesn't bother me and it does not affect the photos. If you look where the headphones go and where you plug in your phone to charge it, it's not completely closed, but it's not really noticable. There's a covering over where you charge your phone if it were to be opened the gap increases in size and you can see a difference when it's opened or closed it's not at all bad. I got a little rainbow in the bottom left courner, but it's so tiny I don't even notice. It's kinda hard to get the back piece on, but I got it on. Starting from the bottom and alternating sides as you go up was the easiest way I found. When you push down the back piece when the case is fully closed there is a little room. I'm trying to say yes it fits. It was easy to fit the phone into the front piece. Would it withstand the elements with the tiny gap? Well, I'm not sure because I haven't tested, but by the looks of it I would say yes. Over all it fits good, still looks good, I love it, and would recommend a friend an iPhone 6 Lifeproof case for an iPhone 6s.

To be honest with you, if I purchase a case for $90+...I want it to fit perfectly and especially if it's supposed to be waterproof. I don't want to take a chance with it not fitting properly.

Yup. Totally with you on this. The Newton Rings on my Fre for the 6s are as bad as ever...nearly 15% of the screen has them and I can see them when the screen is on too. I don't care at all what it's like with the screen off, but this is the first Lifeproof Fre I've owned where I still notice the rainbow even with the screen on.

Have you tried this theory?....

I've tried that. I'm apparently not a man of delicate touch, however, and was never able to get an "invisible" layer of powder. I do recall that Lifeproof customer service suggested this method in the past. I'm not sure if they still do.

Oh okay. I was just thinking about getting the Fre and trying this theory , but I really shouldn't have to do this with a $90+ case.
