I've had mine on for 2-3 hours and the oil slick is just starting to grow. :(

Maybe I need to list mine for sale before I gets here. What I always disliked about LP cases. Was hoping it was gone or a thing of the past this generation

Not sure, let me know your results when you get it. The OP is reporting no oil slicks.
Unless you are looking at the right angle they are pretty hard to see.

Yeah, well see... have a glass screen protector on phone at moment and not sure I'm going to be willing to take it off and be out ~$10 and only *might* not have oil slicks. For my 6 I would've kept fre on 24/7 had it or been for oil slicks. Really liked slim form factor. Screen off screen on those oil spots were too much for my OCD.

I pulled off my $50. ZAGG Sapphire Defense to put on my LifeProof. The Sapphire Defense is one huge piece of crap. Try putting the phone in with the Glass Protector still on. That's what I'll be doing next. Installing a Tempered Glass and see if it still has oil slicks.

Another problem with the LifeProof is that the screen is real grainy looking while viewing a white screen.
Here's some more pictures I took of the LP including a couple comparing it to the Otterbox Symmetry & UAG Plasma cases. My LifeProof came with a nice fat scratch on the back right out of the box. :(

Why not try ghostek atomic 3, I have it on my 7 plus and love it, no rainbow effect at all and sound is great on it.

Had one of those, two of those actually for my 6S+. Like the case actually. Very thin, just had some other build quality problems. Hence how I got a second. Haven't even used it and don't have 6S+ anymore. I probably wouldn't buy another unless they've changed design some?

Thought about it some more, biggest problem I had with Ghostek was apple charger would barely fit much less anything 3rd party.

The stock apple will fit, amazon basic would not, I just shaved down the coating, it took about 5 min, I recently came from a note 7 and this is the most well built case I ever had.

Dang man. I'm sorry that you're having problems with your Lifeproof case.
I guess I'm just not that picky anymore since I've ran through a lot of cases, in my iPhone's lifetime. I'm really loving this version of the lifeproof case, and I'm still not having any oil slicks or newton rings on mine.

Awww, I would've buy that than the Speck Presidio clear case if was still in the US last week. They didntn have that Fre or Nuud that time.
Please beware the Speck Presidio clear case quality. The case is not really clear but a kind of grainy clear. The material is not flexible to take the phone in and out and to me, it is a kind of though and very difficult to take phone in and out and in which could damage the phone. Also, jet black color looks matte black. So for all jet black iPhone owners, this is not the case to buy. Due to the reasons above, I returned the case.

Put LifeProof on with glass screen protector. Was able to seal it with glass screen protector but the plastic screen not setting on screen makes typing very difficult. Like feel like you have to press extra hard and makes it feel weird. You can definitely notice the extra noise typing.

No oil slick, yet though

Is the gummy thing sticking to the home button with the glass screen protector installed on the phone?

Nah spaced too far from button. On my 6S+ home button did same thing you described without screen protector and never hurt anything though.

Picked up the Fre from BB thinking that Lifeproof actually listened to their customers and revised the damn thing but nope - same ole over priced, cheaply made (Chinese crap) case like their previous versions.

The plastic built-in screen protector still sucks donkey balls. Newton rings down the middle and the clarity is a joke. Not sure why they charge up the ASS for this case ($90) yet they can't implement a GLASS screen protector that actually works properly and keeps the iPhone screen looking bright and crystal clear.

In addition, there is still the issue with distorted call sound quality. Callers on the other end say I sound far away. Same issue with LifeProof cases going back a few years now.

The home button gel-like cover is horrible and hardly works. The case feels really cheap and poorly designed. Can't say I'm surprised.

Mine is going back tomorrow. Against my better judgement I gave LifeProof another shot. Never again.

Very content with my Evutec and UAG cases.

Dang sorry to hear this. I haven't had any problems with calls or the home button.
I still don't have Newton Rings on mine. And I've had it for a week. Maybe I got the luck of the draw??

I wouldn't put a glass screen protector. Yours must be a thick one. The only time I've put a screen protector with a lifeproof is when I had the Nüüd case. I've never used a screen protector with the Frē.

You better go and get a few lottery tickets while your at it. Maybe your in a climate where it's real cold? That could make a difference.
