Also, to get rid of the newton rings, try the old fashioned way of blowing baby powder on it. With the holes closed. Or be in a room that's either cold or not as humid. I think that's how I got away with no newton rings, my house is cold as ****. Lol and we have a humidifier going through out the house.

If I have to sprinkle Baby Powder on my phone, I'll just pass on that one. How's the FRE working with the screen protector already on you phone? I just put on that Tech Armor Corning 2 and it's super thin. Might work great with the Lifeproof.

Considering what LP is charging for these sh!tty cases, I'd say it's a pretty big deal. It sounds like you like "rainbows" (I'm not judging you btw) but for the rest of us it's not acceptable.

Not to mention that it makes your crisp Retina display look nice and fuzzy, like something from 10 years ago.

Still sold out for the deal on Best Buy, too bad I was hoping to pick a couple up.

Edit: If anyone is willing to sell theirs send me a pm!

Just bought the lifeproof frē for the 7 plus from Best Buy's website. It qualified for 2 day shipping and I received it on Sat. I put it on this morning and I must say that they have put some thought into developing the case.

Yes I know the iPhone 7 and 7 plus are water resistant. But remember. There's a difference between water resistant and waterproof!!!

Fit: nice and slim. Just a few mm thicker than the phone. There is also no air gap between the screen and the protector.

Sound: for being covered, the sound is great. Not muffled. And you don't have to open the lightning port to produce a louder sound.

Overall: this case is very nice. A big improvement from the previous versions that I've owned.

I am so thankful to this forum advising about lifeproof good deal with Best Buy. I agree with OP that the case is beautiful and protectful.
Now, the case price jumped back to 89.99 while we got it with $50 discount.

People buy cases for different reasons. People use their phones in different conditions. And some people view their mobile devices as a tool rather than a piece of jewelry that needs to be coddled.

If someone is looking for protection from drops and scratches due to the work they do or the activities they participate in LP Fre cases are pretty good.

I'm a person who coddles my phone so I have it in a Ringke Slim case with a Belkin Screen. On the other end of the spectrum is my friend who is a mechanic. He doesn't care much for the latest or greatest so he is still using a 5S. He's used Lifeproof cases since he's had the phone. The case looks like hell due to the constant contact with oil and dirt on the outer case but when he took the phone out to put in a replacement Lifeproof case a few months ago it looked pretty flawless. Considering the size of the case and how many times I've seen him drop the phone. I was pretty impressed.

We should judge the case for its intended purpose.

LifeProof is TRASH and even at $39.99 - they are over priced. Just wait until the seal starts to fall apart or the screen clarity gets worse over time.

Way better alternatives out there for so-called "water proof" iPhone cases.

Your user name says it all I guess. I just received my life proof case I ordered at the discounted $39.99 price and I am thoroughly impressed. Amazing protection for a reasonable price.

Good for you. We'll see how you feel about your amazing/fabulous case in a month from now. I saved your reply because I know it will come in handy.

Like a Zip Loc bag, better clarity and water resistance than the LifeProof. o_O

And NO newton rings on your screen display. Go figure.

Is it that hard for you to get over the fact there are people who value the protective capabilities of a case over whether newton rings exist? Plenty of people like the case. Maybe you don't. But clearly you don't represent everyone in the market.

Who am I to talk anyone out of making their iPhone 7 display look like an iPhone 3GS.

I've tried LifeProof with my 5s (phone without the case still looks brand new) and its still ok. Even though the company advertises what it can do, I'm not the kind of person who will trust my phone on their claim 100% and be lax with it. Anything can go wrong.
But what I can say is, it did its sole purpose of protecting my phone from dust, numerous accidental water splash and dives, and drops (even thrown away because I need to rush) and still giving me the comfort that I will still be able to make clear emergency calls. Case for $89, fine. If I get it for $70, thank you still.
I live in a country where we are often hit by typhoons (like Ondoy, Yolanda/Haiyan). You'll definitely need a good case.
I know that there are other cases that are of the same quality, or maybe much better, or maybe cheaper, but I haven't tried them yet or even familiar with.
Yes, to each is his own. Respect.

Dang. I must have gotten a real good case then. I haven't had any problems with mine and I'm going on almost week 3. I'll agree, the clarity isn't like having the Nüüd or being caseless. But it's still clear enough for me. The only time is see the graininess is if I hold it up close to my face.

But everyone has their own opinion. Some people hate this case/company. And there's some that like/love it.

I happen to like this company because it has saved my ass numerous times. And TO ME, their customer service has been good.

Are there other waterproof case companies?? Yes. I've experienced a few. Like Catalyst. Their case is much better than Lifeproof, but what turned me away from them was the customer service.

But an opinion is like an *******, everyone has one and sometimes, you don't like what comes out.

Definitely 2 thumbs up for their customer service.

I bought the LifeProof when they went on sale, and I've been following this thread while waiting for it to get here. I was worried about the weird rainbow effect, as I've had them in the past do this and it completely kills it for me. The case came today, and I haven't had this problem at all with it. I remember that I used to hate using the case because it always seemed like you had to press down a little harder like there was too much space between the protector on the phone and the screen. I don't have that problem either. Overall, I'm quite happy with the case so far. It is day 1, so I'm going to give it a few more days and see. Haha.

Just a reminder that cheapo matte screen film screen protectors work perfectly to eliminate the rainbow affect.

So in other words, add another layer to further degrade screen clarity. Or like someone else suggested.... Just blow some baby powder puff on your screen to eliminate the rainbow effect, LOL.

It's not a lot of baby powder, just the residue where it'll make a cloud.

Another way

  • We suggest going to a cool air-conditioned area (low humidity), opening the case and then keeping the phone and case parts in the air-conditioned area for about an hour to dry out any humidity.Use the cleaning cloth provided in the package to thoroughly clean the screen and phone (no cleaning fluids). You can breathe on the case or phone with an open mouth just before wiping to create a little condensation which assists cleaning.
