I have a question, does the door problem happen to the other color of the Nuud for the life proof case? It seems to me its just happening to the black ones? Can anyone confirm?
Actually, material wise, depending on the technique of adding pigmentation to the extrusion process, generally speaking color diminishes the strength of plastics/polymers. A good design will take that to account by adding additional safety factors, greater thickness, geometry changes, such that the change in material strength is negligible or has marginal impact. What we're probably seeing is statistically more black cases in the market, and thus seeing more occurrences than white ones.
I have a Zagg HDX screen protector installed on my 6+, will the lifeproof work with that still on?
They don't recommend a screen protector that goes past the screen. They provide a screen protector that covers only the screen. But what's the point of putting a screen protector if you're gonna get it wet? But if you aren't gonna use the case for the waterproof ability, I guess it's good.
I also have a Zagg tempered glass protector installed on my iPhone 6 plus since day one, although LifeProof instructions require you to remove any screen protector, I haven't done so yet. I was originally going to use the case for a couple of days to see how I liked it, and then go back to remove the protector. But so far after a couple months of use, it works fine in the elements - rain, shower, rinsing it under a faucet. Though it wouldn't be advisable to use it while diving, or any prolong submersion in water, as the pressure differential may cause a leak to occur around the gasket seals on around the front speaker element and home button due to the raised surface from the screen protector and the phone.
So using one won't guarantee it to be waterproof, just water resistant. Also check to make sure the transparent gasket around the screen periphery isn't folded or tucked in within itself, for proper seal make sure to follow the instructions to insert the bottom of the phone in first, and watch carefully on the screen side to make sure the gasket seal is uniform and consistent as you completely insert the phone in the case, if it doesn't, back off, and try again.
With a screen protector I find the fit tighter on the gasket, especially on V1, but the tolerances are looser on V2, phone seems to fit looser even with a screen protector. I'm still using a a warranty replacement V1 case, which just so had the charger flapper tab break recently, so I'll swap to the V2 soon and report back on the durability if anything noteworthy happens.
I really want to like the Nuud but the clear back scratches and makes the set up look horrible.
Yes, you're not the only one to complain about this issue. It does scratch too easily. And for a $100 dollar case, you'd think they'd design a better back cover, the large exposed areas are prone to scratches, especially with polycarbonate, and diminishes the overall quality of the case.
I'd definitely would prefer the frē back cover and not the transparent one on the nüüd. If they ever do make a frē iPhone 6 Plus case, I'd buy one, just to see if I can swap the back cover out, as previous LifeProof cases you could apparently swap the back covers on the nüüd to the frē.
Does anyone else have bubbles under their home button? They drive me nuts and I can't seem to get rid of them. Any tips?
I get them quite frequently too, but goes away after I've used compressed air or DacVac/shop vac in reverse to blow off excess water when the case get's wet. The fast moving air above the case causes the membrane to lift up, and then you press back down to remove any bubbles.
