Imagine you are in my situation, I am trying to figure out what's more worth it to spend my disposable income on....

Choice #1
- German car (i.e. Audi A4/BMW 3)
- Sony Vaio S laptop

Choice #2
- Japanese car (i.e. Honda Accord)
- rMBP 15" with 3-year AppleCare
- whatever left will probably be spent on either iTV (next year) or branded clothes

I just bought a new Audi RS6 tuned by ABT and I have to say my rMBP fits very well with it. Both are extremely fast! Why would you even consider something like an Accord? Imagine being on a party and having to confess that you own an Accord!! Duh...

Why not get a non retina 15"? You don't have to buy a completely different brand just because you don't want to spend the extra on the retina.

None. Buy a Saab

Good luck getting parts now. I had to wait 6 months to for parts to fix mine, luckily it was drivable. Many others at the dealer had been sitting in their lot waiting on parts for 4 months when I first went in... 10 months for those cars and they were making payments on them!

Trading it in as soon as the car I bought is delivered. Can't risk having a car non-drivable for months while making payments on it.

I have a 2000 V6 9-5 there's still sites online that have parts and stuff and I happen to have 2 Saab mechanics close by. But mine is paid off. I know it took them about 2-3 weeks to find a bumper when I got rear ended. It's to bad

I'm driving a 2006 2.0L 9-3. Love the car and was going to keep it till it died (bought from a dealer 3 years ago as a lease turn in). Was really disappointed when I put it in a ditch in May and had to wait till November for the parts.

I ended up ordering a 2013 Ford Fusion last month and will be trading in the Saab when it is delivered. I wanted another European car (I know, 2006 was a GM) but looking at BMW/Audi repair issues made me rethink that. Would have had to buy used and I just don't trust them without the warranty after everything I've seen/heard/read while researching them.

What's wrong with an Accord? If you can't look somebody else in the eye and say "I drive an Accord," then you don't need an Audi, you need a backbone.

Are you snobbish *******s from the states or in europe?

I'm trying to figure whether its the geography that's affecting intelligence so I know where not to move to.

As someone who owns a 97 japanese car: I'll hit my brakes when you tailgate me (what german-car drivers *******s usually like to do) so you can kiss my sorry '97 ass.

Stereotype much? I'm sure statistically speaking, a driver of a Japanese car is just as likely to tailgate as drivers of European and American cars.

Besides, brake checking is far more dangerous and you deserve to have your license taken away if you do that regularly. Don't vent your frustrations out onto other drivers.

Choice 2.
Subaru Impreza WRX STi/Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution
rMBP 15in
and anything else.

Sti and Evo aren't really much cheaper (if at all) compared to the European cars OP is looking at. Especially when you consider the insurance costs and gas mileage. So I doubt that's a valid option. And something tells me speed isn't his priority (otherwise his "dilemma" would probably be between an STi/Evo + rMBP or a Camry/Accord + Vaio)

they happen to build their ego on me and my old car. I'm not an aggressive driver and I don't do that - no worries there, i assure you.

Where I come from stereotyping is gentle compared to the real situation. Mostly corrupted businessmen and mafia drives latest prestige german brands (mostly BMW actually), while the old models are driven by smalltime mafia.
Except from time to time audis are actually driven by family men...

Guess who hogs the fast lane on the highway?
Guess who's on the disabled parking lot?
Guess who's parked on an unmarked space?
By the rule of thumb those are mostly BMW's. I can do statistics in the next two weeks to prove it to you if you wish.
