the only reason I'm holding my wallet for the MBP is I would love to see if a bluray disc is offered.

Also, a more pixel dense screen is something I'm looking for.

I don't know what the Peryn really adds, and if it would even be noticable to me (I'm lookin at getting the 2.6ghz).

I've played with the cool track pad of the macbook air, but I don't see how it would be useful for me.

This whole LIVE thing could get really interesting...

I have visions of streaming live concerts to :apple:TV and having friends over for the show... as opposed to going to a venue, parking, paying $12 for Bud Light and hanging out with hundreds of tool boxes...
I think there's something there.

Or... concerts that able to reach a larger audience as opposed to a few thousand a show.

Rambling...

now this, I like. I would definately spring for an aTV if I could "go to" live shoes with a group of friends. Killer! Am I (are we) alone on this???

Wow that's awesome. In the same way that I very much feel that I'm in Springfield when I watch The Simpsons, I can really see watching a concert on TV being just as good as being there.

Well this certainly wasn't what I was expecting... I didn't read the whole thread; does anyone know who was at this "private" shindig?

People who like Macs like Linkin Park? This is a very disappointing revelation.

Why would someone comment on one band being good or not if I am sure that the band/music/genre they themselves listen to isn't that good to someone else anyway.

Not that i care.... LP's last album wasn't as good as their others save for a few songs.

Whether you like them or not, Linkin Park is a band that has a unique and artistic voice.
They are instantly recognizable on the radio and have a huge following.

Exactly.... it's like the Jay-Z thing all over again isn't?

if one were to have a nice big flat screen, good surround sound and lots of friends and adult beverages, it could be a very fun evening.

no, not quite like being there. one would miss out on the yelling to your friends standing next to you, the sweaty strangers rubbing against you, the parking costs, the overpriced/watered down liquor, sticky floors made so by god-knows-what....yeah, i would sure miss being there.

granted, there are some shows that i would (and do) put up with the aforementioned stuff to experience the "real deal." but it sure would be nice to be able to see some shows without all that crap. plus, there are some tours that don't come near certain locations. it would be a way for folks from smaller cities to see some of the bigger tours. and it would also give a wider audience for some smaller tours that can't afford to make it to every city.

again, not a replacement for a live show. but a "sometimes" alternative.

Maybe someday they will record these concerts and sell them on VHS so I can watch them whenever I want! I hear you can pause and rewind too! Do you think it will be in color or no?

;)

This site is called "MacRumors" not "MacFacts". Not everything that is posted on this site is guaranteed to be 100% accurate.

you'd think that was painfully obvious given the name of the site . . . and constant efforts by arn and team to explain "hey we run a 'rumors' site, people" . . . and the fact that apple is probably the most tight-lipped corporation outside the defense and arms industry . . .

Ugh I've been waiting for a new MBP to come out for ages now. :( I love that Apple have made 'the worlds smallest laptop' but its nowhere near as powerful as I need get those MBP's out!

It's not so much that I need the extra power, it's that I want hardware that warrants the current price. I've been waiting for a while to make the switch, and as it stands if I was to buy a macbook pro right now, I'd be paying the same price as I would have last July for the same hardware. Now I don't know about the rest of you but I'm a CS/Multimedia student and while I accept paying the apple "premium" for not having to write my own drivers to run OSX on an ASUS or DELL XPS, I'm not going to accept spending as much as a kawasaki on 8 month old hardware.

With the way the MBP keeps being delayed, it might actually starting to make sense for me to brush up on my C skills and get cracking away at those drivers.

You have a very good point which I think is an underlying reason many of us have for wanting the new MBP's. We're paying current prices for last year's technology. It's a complete rip off. Apple should at least lower the prices if they're going to make us wait til summer. It's just a kick in the teeth and fuels the argument that apple computers are far more expensive than their pc counterparts. Computer components drop in price quickly and drastically. Sure you're also getting an amazing OS, but parts are parts and this is especially true with the switch to Intel.

The anger doesn't come from a feeling of being owed, it comes from a feeling of being screwed. And some people will complain the change isn't enough, that happens with ALL technology, but we should see something and hopefully soon.

I don't know why everyone wants an iPhone SDK event. All the SDK is for is for developers to create apps. It doesn't mean an instant release of apps and games for the iPhone. Those will still take a few months. And Apple could easily release a quiet penryn MBP on a Tuesday. They changed the processors and a lot of configuration on the Mac Pro's in a quiet release the first week of January.

Actually, it will only be a matter of days to release applications. Apps are already out there and all the developers have to do is convert them to Apple's SDK so we won't need to jailbreak in order to install them. And its already known that Apple has already gathered a few developing teams, even those know for jailbreak apps, and have given them the go to make apps so we can have some on launch day. Its just amazing how this device is one year old and it has barely reached it'd potential, when was the last time people were so excited about Palm and Pocket PC SOFTWARE updates.

Er from the Oxford University press...

mis•spell /msspel/ verb (mis•spelled, mis•spelled) or (mis•spelt, mis•spelt /msspelt/) [vn] to spell a word wrongly
mis•spell•ing noun [C, U]

Er, from Merriam Webster:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/misspelt

"The word you've entered isn't in the dictionary. Click on a spelling suggestion below or try again using the search bar above.
Suggestions for misspelt:"

:)

I'm Irish, therefore I use UK-English, not US-English. Misspelt is correct.

However, if you're a grammar pedant, could you perhaps explain to me the use of the semicolon? It has always confused me.

Heh, the irony of "I'm Irish, therefore I use UK-English" amuses me. :) I've just noticed that one a lot in some posts ob various sites lately is all, I'm no 'grammar pedant'. :)

Wow. I agree! I'm seriously debating on getting an :apple:TV. Having the ability to invite some people over to watch a live stream of a concert would be awesome. Perhaps even with teh ability to purchase the audio/video from the performance? Hmm...

yup...one fee for the live stream. and another fee to download and keep the audio/video (discounted if you have paid the stream fee).

just what i was thinkin.

Once Apple does update the MBP's, there are going to be a lot of complaints on this site and negative votes. "Lame update." "I waited for this?" .....That's a given...and I'll be shocked if it turns out otherwise. Why does Apple need to have an "event" to update a product, anyway?

This Linkin Park event was a good thing, regardless of what some people think of the band. It adds something unique to iTunes. I hope they do more similar things in the future.

looks like about half the people posting on these forums are waiting for a MBP update.

well, i'm one of them.

hopefully there Will be an update, and there Will be an event next week, despite the Linkin Park performance.

hopefully, these Will coincide.

so to all those complaing about MBP posters on "irrelevant" threads ....

SSHHHHHH

every announcement, no matter how small, can and will be made relevant to the release of the next MBPs.

so get used to it, or stop reading MacRumors.

RUMORS.

It's funny how you noobs always have to turn every topic into a "Where's My MacBook Pro" thread...

... really now? 4GB of RAM, 2.6gHz Core 2 Duo, 1920x1200, up to 250GB optional hard drive isn't enough for you? If it isn't, then get a damn Mac Pro and stop thinking you can edit on the road if you need that much power.

My thoughts exactly.

Like children getting themselves all worked up, they feed each other and make it worse.
