Linus is not a nobody. He is a well respected individual in the tech world and owns his own business. Look up Linus Tech Tips. https://linustechtips.com/main/ & http://www.linusmediagroup.com/history/

I have ~30 years in the industry, consulted across a wide range of technical sectors, been published, sold companies, work in web, security, mobile, AR/VR/CV, ML, public, private sector, etc., so I guess I'm a little over the YT loud-review-of-the-day having any real impact on my personal perspective that's backed by what most of my peers would say is reasonable technical expertise 🙂

Don’t even bother, people like Linus make money off sensationalization, not objectivity. Lisa from MobileTechReviews and MKBHD are usually the most objective and don’t let their personal preferences get in the way of their reviews.

Yeah, thanks, and I didn't mean to come off as some kind of be-all expert and post my whole CV, but I'm just so tired of so many of this type of "tech review[er]". Someone posted another one recently, the guy was tossing the device around, using inaccurate technical terms, heck, not even reporting accurate details on the device. It was just idiotic (and I regret even giving him a click).

Always someone to make comments that has no clue.
No clue at all! I love Linus's videos. I guess when someone doesn't like the opinion of someone who has a huge following, they resort to calling them a nobody. Pretty sure Linus has waaaaay more experience than that guy.

Seems like a mix of Chris Pirillo, Casey Neistat and some Verge emo.

Those two are good.

Pretty much any charismatic person with a tech background can review products and gain a following. Some are just too daft to see how biased he, as a person, is and has always been when it comes to personal electronics. I trust him for other things, though.

I like his fairness, parts are over the top (the notch is so subjective, he hated that part haha)/not at all my style, but I like that he didn't just kiss Apple's butt. FaceID is finnicky, tho impressive at a lot of times too. But finicky. TouchID gen2 Is superior imo.

I LEARNED SOMETHING NEW FROM THIS VID TOO WOO

the dual PCB design, implemented in OG and now X.

Talk about clueless. He is well respected in tech circles and quite knowledgeable. He also has a large following. So basically the opposite of most everything you said.

Jim Jones had a lot of followers... I’m sure he was respected within his circles of influence... but that isn’t reason enough to buy what he was selling.

I've followed mobile tech reviews for years; thought I knew the big names; never came across this guy. A few minutes of this video makes me think I haven't missed much. But to each their own...

It's not as negative as it sounds from the title.
