This might come as a surprise, but most YouTubers do use Android. Google owns YouTube. If you go on the comment section, it is very negative towards Apple. Go on Engadget and GSM Arena, and same thing.

iJustine owns Androids but doesn't really talk about them. UrAvgConsumer and PhoneBuff used Android since the G1. Mr. Mobile and MKBHD prefer Android. Doesn't surprise me if Linus prefers it. Jon4Lakers has been on both for years now.

Global market share is 80/20 favoring Android. I was surprised that most Best Buy employees I have spoken to in multiple locations generally use Android. I assumed most were iPhone users like the majority of my relatives here in the States. I was wrong. BB employees like Android.

Smart people

iOS is messed up. Linus was pointing out the stupidity of some of the features. Another good review of the iPhone X is snazzy labs.

Pretty much any charismatic person with a tech background can review products and gain a following. Some are just too daft to see how biased he, as a person, is and has always been when it comes to personal electronics. I trust him for other things, though.

Every single reviewer who tests a product is biased by definition. If you want non-biased, then read the spec sheet, because that's what most "unbiased" reviewers do.

Have to admit I stopped watching reviews a while ago since most of them just spent almost the entirety of their videos criticising the phone. But Snazzy Labs has some agreeable points for sure.

It all comes down to fixable software. And seeing how fast Apple is rolling out the updates, I have no doubt the experience will improve rapidly.

Minor annoyances do not equate to a failed launch.

What's wrong with a critical review? Of any product I mean—not just this one.

It seems to me that if you want to know tons about the good, all you have to do is look at the corporate marketing collateral that's released. When I'm making a purchasing decision, I want to know about the downsides that are hidden or downplayed in marketing.

I think a lot of people try to use reviews for something for which they are not intended: namely, reinforcing their decision to purchase the product. That's psychologically valid, but not terribly helpful if you're a prospective customer trying to make a real decision—which is the actual target audience for most reviews.

You’re absolutely right. It just seems like a large portion of “reviews” tend to lean toward the negative to the extent that you wonder, why not just title your videos “Just get a Note 8”.

I agree with your comment on purchase validation, though. It’s not particularly helpful.

Ahhh. Yeah. I do think there's a sizable chunk of videos and write-ups masquerading as "reviews" that are no such thing. And that happens on both sides, unfortunately.

I'm grateful for the good ones, though, and even the not-so-good ones that at least try to be objective. Especially when you're talking about an infrequent and (for most people) relatively expensive purchase, these are essential to being a truly informed consumer.

And when you do get those rare objective ones, they tend to be lambasted with biased comments.

Snarky comments withdrawn. In total, not bad. No review is perfect and most appear to have been written by sycophants. This was not a bad watch.

Let me put it this way, if Linus wasn't respected like some of you think, NEWEGG wouldn't be making their Black Friday Sale all with him choosing the products.

The guy went from employee to have his own brand, he obviously does something right. I’ve been watching his vids since he was at NCIX.
His Newegg campaign makes sense. I’d def trust him helping me pick discounted H/W to build a PC.

I actually had a crash course with Linus' videos several years back on how to build my PC. Can’t fault his knowledge in the field, bias or not.
