I subscribe to Linus. His reviews are definitely more for entertainment value, but his points are well taken. I don't have an issue with his comments on the X, they're true for a lot of people. FaceID IS slower than TouchID, and I DO use a dongle with my headphones. He also leans more Android and PC for sure. People shouldn't be so sensitive about less than excellent reviews about the X. People who appreciate Apple products appreciate the X, others may not see it as a big deal. Again, who really cares. I'll keep watching Linus because he's pretty objective, even if he leans towards Android/PC and entertainment. I despise Android, but I use PC's regularly. More importantly, I appreciate all tech.

I have zero complaints about my X. I think it's a big leap over the previous iPhones in terms of design. Apple said iPhone X is future and they will keep refining it over the years.

No its not haha,

the title is extremely dramatic and misleading
Click bait titles. Something BGR and Gizmodo loves to do for years trashing Android and calling Pixel 2 XL really ugly.

This is the first time I actually have seen Linus. Already superior to Austin Evans, Unbox Therapy, and Justine & Jenna Ezarik. I don't like brown nosing / biased / kiss butt reviews. I don't mind knowing all the positives but I learn more from objectivity.

I learned Sony removed double tap to wake and FM radio with RDS on the XZ1 Compact. I need to know stuff like that before purchase. Bit of a bummer but good to know right now. Don't like sugarcoated reviews.

Not someone I subscribe to but a solid and fair review.

The criticisms are also fair.

The headphone dongle quip at the end is real. It’s a pain in the ass when you realize you don’t have a dongle and need to use your headphones. That doesn’t happen everyday but when it does it certainly sucks.

And he’s not trying to be “in your face.” Freezing Face and street noise will do that to your pitch.

This might come as a surprise, but most YouTubers do use Android. Google owns YouTube. If you go on the comment section, it is very negative towards Apple. Go on Engadget and GSM Arena, and same thing.

iJustine owns Androids but doesn't really talk about them. UrAvgConsumer and PhoneBuff used Android since the G1. Mr. Mobile and MKBHD prefer Android. Doesn't surprise me if Linus prefers it. Jon4Lakers has been on both for years now.

Global market share is 80/20 favoring Android. I was surprised that most Best Buy employees I have spoken to in multiple locations generally use Android. I assumed most were iPhone users like the majority of my relatives here in the States. I was wrong. BB employees like Android.

I have ~30 years in the industry, consulted across a wide range of technical sectors, been published, sold companies, work in web, security, mobile, AR/VR/CV, ML, public, private sector, etc., so I guess I'm a little over the YT loud-review-of-the-day having any real impact on my personal perspective that's backed by what most of my peers would say is reasonable technical expertise 🙂
you need to battle this out with Linus...

Fight to the death!

I wouldn’t say that’s true outside of the tech enthusiasts. There are a lot of YouTube creators out there and they cover travel, cooking, diy, any number of subjects. And I would say the majority of the most popular creators on YouTube (outside of tech enthusiasts) use iPhones and Macs.

His point about cc pull down for a real statur bar is lame

Jailbreak will fix it but tons of wasted space on bunny ears

Also they couldn’t. Have embedded %age in battery icon optionally, or have an alarm clock symbol? Meh

This guy is super douchey and impossible to watch. That doesn't mean he doesn't have good points, but if you've watched his videos in the past, he has a seething hatred toward Apple. Nobody is pushing him to Android ... or Windows for that matter.

Why would Best buy employees favor the IPhone when they only make good sales profit on it like once per year and then sales taper off?

Talk about clueless. He is well respected in tech circles and quite knowledgeable. He also has a large following. So basically the opposite of most everything you said.

It’s weird he does have 4 million YouTube subscribers but I had never heard of him before until I saw this video like a day ago and I watch a lot of them. So maybe I’m not his target audience.

I believe its like 88% Android users in the world now IIRC. Most of the "techies" would use Android over iOS for sure. The people who fit in that category usually like to tinker with their toys. From phones, cars, homes, etc. Most of these people probably hate the idea of allowing a company to take control over what you can/can't do, or hate the idea of leaving everything "stock", with barely any customization. Personally, I like the idea of being able to decide for myself. YMMV

I love iOS. I leave my tinkering to my gaming/Hackintosh computers. Just because someone likes to tinker doesn't mean they don't like Apple products. I use iOS because there's no BS. I like the simplicity and Apple has that on lockdown. It's not for everyone and that's perfectly understandable, but there are all kinds of people that use Apple products. I like Android too and find myself switching between the two year after year just because I like new stuff. But I always find myself gravitating back to Apple.

I know, right? I’ve been told more than once on here I’m not technical because I use all Apple gear and don’t have/use Android. Someone should inform the companies who happily pay (the company I work for) $350+ per hour, just to talk to them. More if you actually want me to do something.

The phrase “tech geek” now appears to have been redefined to mean “installed a launcher and made Tasker do something to minimize the deficiencies of the phone I bought”.

We do 400 an hour, just to talk, and then some if you need something done. We only use Android, as Apple could not last a day in the field, in what we do. When it comes to networking and infrastructure, Apple cannot compete.

X users. Thoughts on this? I know iOS (and most software) is far from perfect, but find it baffling how clumsy some of the gestures appear to be. It's the reason I always avoid first gen. Would like another perspective on this (from the community).

If you’re doing “network and infrastructure” on a mobile OS of any flavor, it’s toy town stuff. We do our work on actual computers.
