Posting from Australia, joined, finally, after visiting MacRumors every single day for ages now :3
Waiting desperately for Lion to come out of course.
I think it will be a little historic. I'm usually skeptical about such large claims, but I think Lion will be remembered as the first step in integrating iOS and Mac OS, in a very different way to Windows approach. From a UI stand point, its the single biggest innovation since the advent of graphical window based computing and the mouse. It seems like Apple are leading the way in ways that Microsoft could only have dreamed of, in terms of making personal computing as easy as possible for as many people as possible (though most people have trouble even with iOS, I have seen, it's still a little scary for them for some reason).
I know it sounds like hyperbole but the bridging of iOS and Mac OS, with the unified multitouch interfaces, seems to be one of the most incredible (or at least most instantly noticeable) innovations Apple has ever pioneered. Surely the industry copying these innovations, or even driving Apple out of business by using their ideas, is a great step forward for humanity as it shifts the way people interact with computers in a way that could have taken decades with Apple first proving that these innovations can be wildly successful. I think Apples horrible closed system approach to iOS is more than justified because of the improvements it offers the world. Apple can't stay in charge forever, can't see how it would be possible for Apple to continue this level of quality and innovation indefinitely, certainly without Jobs. Here's hoping he lives forever and starts warming up to some kind of humanism ideals to charity and his fellow man.
Damn, I shouldn't get high and post with all this Lion buzz
