I'm okay with everything apart from the lack of OpenGL updates. The biggest thing for me right now is good 3D support. I know that Apple's implementation uses about 95% of the 3.0 spec and a few from 3.1 and 3.2, but really, there should be a full implementation, it's 2011.

How much longer must we suffer Apple releasing machines with crippled GPUs?

Theyre not only crippled due to poor OpenGL support, Apple's GPU offerings have also been piss poor. Proof? Slapping a mobile graphics card into a desktop iMac in 2011 and on top of that, still charging a premium.

It really is pathetic how not even the pro-apple community gives criticism to this fact where criticism is clearly due.

Overall they seemed good. The birds seem to lag a bit. I did have it stop using the camera once too.

Just curious what major functions you have found problems with. Other then the photo booth glitches I have found everything to work well. I think it will be even better when spotlight and time machine finish their fun.

Let me just first say that I'm extremely happy with Lion, I like the new direction and know that most of these problems occur whenever a new version of OSX is released. But there are a few bugs which should be brought to Apples attention because they are good about addressing them.

I can no longer open PDF files in browser using Safari. I have to download the file and open it using Adobe Reader, minor bug but inconvenient all the same for something used so often.

When resizing websites like MacRumors using the track pad the content becomes uncentered. When using the buttons on the browser the content remains centered in Safari. A minor bug, inconvenient though.

1Password looks like they tried to prepare for Lion. 1Password works really well on my iMac but is very unreliable on my MBPro.

Again, not major bugs that should stop people from buying Lion, but minor issues that Apple will probably address if they are brought to attention. It seems like Apple pays attention to what users are saying so I feel there is value in documenting such minor inconveniences.

Cute lion photo :D

One thing that's really getting me hung up; even though I've owned an iPhone since launch in 2007, the "natural" scroll in Lion is strange to me... I'm going to keep it around for a while and see if I can get used to it.

Good luck using mission control. Say you want the two desktops to the right to be mail and iTunes, in that order. Good luck. How did this get so screwed up?

Thanks for the insight...

Full screen apps are their own space. It would be nice to be able to reorder them though. My only problem with full screen apps is that more developers did not take advantage of the beta period to update their Apps. Would be great if chrome and the kindle app worked right.

Yeah I use Mail and iTunes as full screen apps, but if iTunes ever gets to be the 3rd space it annoys me because in SL I had it in its on space one to the right of my normal desktop. Not being able to move them or have a space below and only being able to go left and right is very annoying.

give it 3 days, you will be scrolling the Lion way....

I've been trying to "natural" scrolling on my work windows PC since I got used to new Lion scroll....

I'm loving Lion so far! I think it's a great success. Like one of the reviewers said, this feels like a 21st century operating system. It's slick.

Lion is a winner here. :D

(I'm still wrapping my head on this inverse scrolling thing!)

Oh, I like the new buttons! Glad they got rid of those bulging glass-like aqua buttons.

1. Guess that you do not understand then...

2. Downgraded? Really? Too outrageous for me to understand...

If you've used it for a while and don't understand then maybe you're not plagued by the same annoying aspects that we are. And I understand the reviews, because I'm not an idiot, but I don't believe they are accurate.

And to the ppl above me, at first the scrolling is annoying but after a few days it's just like you've been doing it your whole life, unless you have to use Windows as well.

I don't see a need for me to upgrade, I don't use any of the gimmicky crap apple packs into its OS like dashboard/expose/gestures/etc., and it seems like Lion full of a lot of fluff like this. I don't need things to sparkle and look like a piece of candy. Just need a solid, bug and virus free OS- which thankfully it is too.

GizLOLdo. Upholding their proud tradition of biased content since they got busted. Jokers...

Anyone else notice the way they preface everything with "Ive used Apple Product X since release X and i love it... BUT..." and then **** all over the product as if mentioning their love for Apple stuff gives their review some kind of brevity or balance. Journalism for 5 yr olds. Beyond that, i hardly think theyre worthy of any more of my time.

Lion Priced Exactly What It's Worth, 29.99.

If you're like me and was hoping the Apple would fix the unforgivably horrible Mac font support, you'll be disappointed today.

A $3000 MacBook Pro is all but useless if you need to do anything that involves working with text: coding, text processing, databases, spreadsheet, etc.

Very simply, if you work with text, you need large non-aliased type that works across a bunch of different application, and while a Google search will yield a few half solutions, the problem is real, significant, and NOT resolved with the release of Lion.

I do like the backwards scrolling.

Anyone with an Early 2008 MBP able to get Airdrop working? It won't show up for me, and I haven't researched whether that's because my laptop doesn't support it or if it's a bug.

There are, however, downsides to anything this new and major. In my view, the biggest of these is that switching to Lion will require a major adjustment even for veteran Mac users, though it will be easier for those who use iPhones or iPads. Lion will significantly increase the learning curve for Windows users switching to the Mac...

Lion is very different. It’s a big leap, and gives the Mac a much more modern look and feel for a world of tablets and smartphones. If you are willing to adjust, it’s the best computer operating system out there.

-Walt Mossberg

I really don't think this old bag of hurt should be writing articles or reviews on an OS. This guy belongs in the black and white TV age. Best operating system out there? For who, old veterans like himself? The only thing he does on his computer is update his bias towards a particular company (apple) or other piece of news and collect his paycheck. This guys is clueless about the requirements for other uses from a computer beyond his mickey mouse bull***t.

I'm NOT saying OS X isnt great, its definitely is, but he needs to pull his head out of Steve Jobs' ass and realize OS X isnt a platform that can be used by anyone. In that regard, it is NOT the best OS, it is simply, and SUBJECTIVELY the best OS for purposes that resemble *his* limited use of a computer.

Pundits like him need to thrown out of the office and given 2 weeks severance, I really can't stand this one sided morons writing reviews and skewing the publics perception of what should ultimately be a choice made by THEM, not guys like Walt or Big Brother Steve Jobs.

I wish *every* review was not only accurate, but above all else, OBJECTIVE.

Software Updater issue

Anyone having an issue with Software Updater after upgrading to Lion?

I have 3 pending updates, Remote Desktop Client, iWorks and iTunes.

Telling it to install updates and it complete stalls on the download (I'm at my office, which has 100 mbit bandwidth to the internet) almost instantly. Made it to 2.8 MBs of RDC the first time and 91 MBs of iTunes on the second try.

Forced quite the updater and now it won't open at all. After reboot, the process starts over, sticking on downloads.

What about people with slow internet??

I think Apple didn't think this all the way through. I only have a Sprint Mobile Braodband Card with a 5GB/month limit. The download speeds are terrible. How am I supposed to download Lion. The Apple Store is an hour and a half from my house. After calling Apple and being transferred many times, they tell me that I can buy a Flash Drive with Lion on it for $69 in August. I said that I have enough flash drives and asked why they can send me a disk and only charge me $29? The representative didn't even answer. I think it is outrageous for Apple to punish customers with slower internet and make them pay $40 extra dollars. I am feeling Apple doesn't care about me because I am not offered high speed internet in my area.

Who knew there were so many people on macrumors who go out of their way to hate on apple. I wouldn't spend any time on a Ford forum hating on their cars. Seems kind of ridiculous.

My noob question:

Will I have to re-install my non-Apple software again, or will the Lion upgrade be seamless? (In particular, Parallels and Windows software in that virtual partition.)

I like Lion a lot however, we are seeing the same bugs we reported multiple times during the Developer Trial. AD binding still doesn't work correctly :(
