I've been a MacRumors regular reader for quite a while now but just registered to say I have finally ordered my MBP! WOOHOO! After waiting up til way past midnight (Australia) I was pleasantly surprised to see that the prices came down a bit as well. Go the Aussie Dollar!

Ordered mine last night:
2,4Ghz - 200gb - Geforce 256mb - 2gb.

Figured that the ekstra cash for the mid range wasn't worth it for my needs - so i'll just upgrade the RAM when it is needed :D

First mac ever!

ordered base model with student discout yesterday at 4:45pm cst. I was pleasantly surprised to get my tracking # at midnight. Shipped standard, but from China :-(

Fedex is giving me an estimated arrival of Monday by 10:30AM

UPDATE: What are the odds I get this on Friday?

Relax. You ordered it BTO, right? Somebody has to build it first! Yeah, it would be great to have it by this weekend, but it's not gonna happen. I'm thinking mid week to Friday of next week is when most BTOs start showing up.

I always get BTO and then regret it as I have to wait. Through the Student Developer discount I got Aperture pre-installed which saved me 20USD (159.99). But that is the only customization. I am so impatient that the 20USD savings doesn't seem worth it now.

Kinda off topic a little but do you have to buy Applecare with the MBP purchase or can you get it latter if you wanted?

You have 365 days from the time you purchased the computer. The only catch is that if you wait past 90 days you will not have free phone tech support until you get AppleCare.

The only BTO I did is adding the apple remote....

Waiting MBP to be shipped is even worse than waiting it to be released. Constantly checking my email and order status :(

My Powerbok G4 dies back in November. It wouldn't charge and it wouldn't even get power.

So, I held off and held off for a MBP.

And finally, I ordered the 2.6 15" yesterday.

Then my friend came over and opened the Powerbook case, tinkered with a wire, and it boots up just fine.

sigh.

I've lurked for what seemed like forever (OK, it was only two months) and was about to give up completely and buy the old MacBook! This is my first apple ever!

I also have a Powerbook G4. I dropped it on floor many times and finally I broke the screen... So I've been using it as a desktop for the past few months and I can't wait for my new MBP to arrive.
You don't need to "sigh". MBP will definitely be a huge step up, I'm quite sure you won't regret this upgrade, hehe.

did you seriously spend the $400 for the upgraded RAM when you can get it elsewhere for $70 and it just snaps in?
