no, ordered the standard 2gb from apple and placed an order for the 4gb kit from owc seconds later.

agreed, apple's ram is a rip off.
 
ugh i get so jealous when everyone else's is shipping when all i changed was from matte display to glossy and it still hasn't shipped.... I am so impatient :rolleyes:

anyways ,I ordered mine yesterday afternoon and it still says that it hasn't shipped. How is it that people who ordered today are getting shipping confrimation notices?
 
I ordered the base model, stock. I didn't bother with the glossy screen. I seen a Dell with the glossy screen and hated it. It basically acts as a mirror and you see all sorts of reflections, even in dimly lit areas. I imagine Apple's glossy screen would act similarly.

I went with the matte too. I know glossy are good, but it's not worth it to me if I have to worry about reflections and stuff. I'm perfectly fine with the matte screen on the iBook I'm using now.

after all the waiting we did before this thing was released it seems a little silly for people to complain now. Everyone should have their machines in hand by next week. I am excited as much as everyone else (this is my first mac) but it has been worth the wait and is almost here!

Ha, same message I have, only my package data was transferred at 3:32. Same pick up time, though. No updates yet or an expected time of arrival. I chose 2 day shipping and ordered around 11:30am CST on Tuesday.

I ordered the 15" 2.5 with no options, matte screen. You?
 
Well guys, I got mine today. Very weird story. My roommate was going to get one once they came out with Penryn. We went to the local store here in southern California because they had them in stock. The one I ordered online (stock base model) is going to get here tomorrow probably, but it says nothing other than "left origin - shanghai". I am leaving town for a trip tomorrow night, so I really needed it to come tomorrow. So when we were driving back from the store after he bought his stock base model he was like "hey why don't you just have this one and I will have the one that comes from fedex?" I was like well.....uh.... and couldn't think of a reason why not to. This way I get mine now and he gets his ( most likely tomorrow ) and I am guaranteed to have it for my trip. So here I am sitting on my 2.4 GHz 4GB (OWC) Penryn, typing this post. I am upgrading from the first MBP Core Duo, and so far this thing is amazing. Can't tell much on performance yet as I haven't used any intensive apps yet, but the screen is way brighter than my core duo and its nice having a perfectly clean, freshly brushed aluminum counterpart. I'm stoked. And my roommate (who could care less) will have his tomorrow or friday. I'll still be on the forums, so keep us posted on your guys' updates. Take Care!

I ordered the stock low-end model (2.4). I ordered at around 10pm PST on Tuesday. It was a long day of fretting and mulling over my options (first read the news at 6:30am), but I feel 100% certain that I made the right decision. :)

I think most UK buyers are having to wait until march 10th like me :mad:

I have mine on order as well

I have gone down the finance route so it means I will have to wait a little longer - 2 weeks from placement of order (which was 20 mins after they were released

I know you end up paying a premium over the 3 yrs but it does mean I get my laptop now and don't clean out my account - you never know when that rainy day will come!! :D

Oh by the way - soooooooo bloody excited, literally sooooooooo much!

I will update when I get a shipping date - be a good indication for any other financers
 
mine still says ship on the 7th :( and won't arrive till 18-19th :( boo! i can't wait this long!

I ordered mine minutes after the store went up on Tuesday (standard, no BTO 15") and it will ship on march 3, delivery on march 11-12 :(

Probably because I live in Europe and the MBP is more expensive here than in U.S. where they have been delivered within 3 days :eek:
 
ordered it yesterday:

- MacBook Pro 17" Hi-Res Matte WS
- 2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB (will replace with 2x2GB myself)
- 250GB Serial ATA @ 5400 rpm
- Apple Remote

Even though i was hoping for a slight case re-design and a new style keyboard, (OK, and maybe a gun-metal case option), I am amazingly happy and it will be a beast of a machine that I'll be able to use for years. It is certainly a MASSIVE improvement from my 10-year old desktop G4 powerpc!

Though not very happy about the estimated delivery time, apparently it could take up to 24th March...???! :confused: :( :mad:

I understand that a customised laptop takes more time, but this really is taking the piss! Come on apple, I will have a heart attack until then!
