What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Bad news, guys. I have a friend who works in Cupertino, and I couldn't help texting him to bug him about what it'll be tomorrow among all these conflicting reports. Well, he sent me an email with a teaser photo of the new MacBooks - NOT Pros. Yeah, I know. We'll keep waiting, but until then, the MacBooks are apparently making the aluminum switch. Bummer...it's like Apple's trying to tell us something.

Yeah, you wanna see. Well...here it is:

hey... I know this isn't really the right forum- well actually I guess since its just title "waiting" we can really talk about anything- but I just burned a buddy of mine in Iraq a few DVDs and its really the first time I've ever used my DVD burner, but after the first couple it started becoming really noisy. It still reads/writes fine but, like right now, I don't even have a disc in there and it is extraordinarily loud. I can't even hear the TV. Anyone else?? Thoughts? :(

smack it around a bit

Dammmmmnnn, we got a few hardasses in this thread! But Martin, though, I dig some of your Flickr stuff. Nice photos.

I did that while reviewing the DVDs to make sure they worked- he's def going to like them w/ out having females around and all... wait but what does that have to do with my drive?

I take it you tried powering off your mbp already?

My thoughts exactly. I can't stress enough how much I believe the current design is one that will last the ages. Simplistic yet beautiful enough to not get boring.

Well its good as it is now, but if they gonna outfit it with the new air like keyboard it will look disgusting, thus they'd need to do something else as well to balance that ugly contrast of colors.

Something like not putting the Air keyboard on the Pro? : )
The current keyboard is great. Solid, quiet and touch-type-able. The only thing I would change is making the arrow keys full size.

True. Gunmetal gray perhaps:D? That wouldn't look too bad

Yeah Im fine with that, I was just assuming that a lot of ppl here speculating that new air like keyboard will be included.

I reiterate: a black keyboard wouldn't look bad if they make the entire area around the keyboard - that is, the bottom inside half, containing the keyboard, the trackpad, the palm rests, and the keyboard border - black. Black keys on silver looks pretty lame, I agree; black keys on black aluminum could only be described as ***** sick. Especially when paired with a black display bezel.

This is all assuming that the outer case is still silver, of course.

Speaking of a day of judgment.

If Jobs doesn't release tomorrow he will have a horde of angry Apple fans laying seige on his house with Verdi's "Dies Irae" (Day of Anger) playing in the backround as we torch all of Cupurtino in search for our MBP's. Anybody agree?

-Cheers Comrades

PS, I think I tried starting this last week too...hmm...

I have to say:
I was going to buy a laptop around this time. I wanted to wait for the MBP update because I knew it was coming and I didn't want to buy something just to have it updated not too long after. I've learned this with apple before (my iPod Nano got outdated quickly), and so when the Touch came out I basically pounced on it. Such a great decision, since I've been able to get my money's worth out of it. So I think the same way with MBP. If they plan on releasing another update in September (be realistic guys!), I would have used it already for school. So for me, I just really care about penryn in this update (I would appreciate the cooler laptop with a longer battery life). Everything else is icing on the cake, because the MBP is a great machine anyways!:D

Yes :apple: is constantly releasing new products, but that doesn't mean your is outdated. I have a 5th generation ipod touch and it still works great and does as much as the current ipod classic minus the extra hard drive space.

When I get a new MBP, I want to get Vista so i can buy Halo 2. Does anyone know how to get a free copy? $200 is a little steep for something I'm mainly going to use for Halo 2 and other games I could probably just use XP for.
