What's your situation in relation to a MacBook Pro?

Going to buy one around the 15th if it gets updated :D Now just crossing my fingers that it WILL get an update..

Getting a MBP soon in February. 15" high end if there's only a chip refresh. Will reconsider if the rumored ultraportable turns out to be real.

I'd imagine here would be a good place to start, hello there.

I'm looking to buy my first Mac next week, and I've decided on a MBP as I require some degree of portability, but at the same time a relatively large working area.

Whether the MBP sees any updates next week or not, I think I'll be ordering one before the end of the week.

I'm yet to decide between the 15" and 17" - does anybody have any experience with both? Is the 17" "too" large for someone who might need to carry it around a few times a week?

Welcome, AaronRC, a lot of the members who have posted on this thread have the current MBPs and should be able to give you some specifics on daily life with a MBP, but in my opinion a 17" laptop would be quite a burden to lug around.
On a side note, would you like to be added to the list?
When it arrives it'd be good to get some feedback from a new switcher.

If a new MBP is unveiled and it's a stunner then I'm going to return my recently purchased MB and get an MBP. If there is no upgrade then I'm going to keep my MB and add an iMac to the stable.

I wish I have a MacBook Pro...if the price is not that crazy...Please, Mr. Steve Jobs...you have a growing army of MacBook Pro fans...Please let it be more affordable...

well the price on the refurbished models of the previous revision of the MBP might go down when the new ones come out. It might not right away, but eventually it should

What if there isnt a macbook pro update and all of us have waited for nothing

This forum would descend into chaos huh?

one would hope not, and although i will be getting a macbook pro, i will be deeply dissapointed if they havent made it more value for money.

Add me to the list.

I'm a Powerbook G4 15" owner (and to be honest, I've not used it since I bought it cuz my (now ex) girlfriend started lusting after it and started using it for all her uni work. Anyway, she dropped it before christmas and my insurance company have, today, delivered a brand new 2.2GHz Macbook Pro as a replacement because apparently, my powerbook was "beyond repair".

I've been very well behaved and have not even taken the Macbook Pro out of the brown outer box and it's gone straight on ebay as I want a higher spec one (with AppleCare) from the HE store.

I'm so excited :D

I s'pose a 15" with external display might be a better option, then (unless anybody convinces me otherwise).

And yes, list me. I actually planned to write a series of articles on my first month using a Mac, comparing the way I did things on Windows with the way I do things with OS X. It may still be done, but it depends on time I have available. Either way, you'll get some feedback. :)

EDIT: Too sleepy this morning - didn't realize this was for Macbook Pro buyers. Sorry!

My wife and I are buying a middle-of-the-line Macbook, but not until after MWSF. This will be our second Mac, with the first being my iMac (original Intel Core Duo iMac).

We are most likely not interested in a sub-notebook, but are waiting until MWSF because, well, that's just smart with Apple products.

Well my shuttle blew up on the 3rd and I couldn't bring myself to buy a MBP knowing the refreshes were coming on the 15th. I was thinking about buying a MacBook just to tide me over and return it on the 15th but I thought that would be kinda a d*ck move to buy it knowing full well I was going to return it. Thankfully I have been doing my web and email on the iPhone.. Not a replacement but a stop-gap.

counting down the days.....

15" or 17" MBP

choice depends on features/upgrades in each

Count me in as well!!! Either an UP to replace my 12 in PB or a new 15 inch. Can't wait!!! Apple... wow me!

i was planning on it if it wasn't just a speed increase (i.e. multitouch, ultra thin, etc...), as i had a sudden surplus of cash... but it kind of disappeared... :(

Just hoping for more than a speed increase here. Don't want an ultra thin 17" MacBook Pro. Too small means you can't fit anything professional in it. Give me a slightly bigger 17" MBP with dual HDD slots and dual 2.8GHz processor and we can do business Apple.

15,4 inch version the moment they become available. I've been waiting since October..ha! Only because I don't really need the machine.

Oh goodness.. my new MBP just arrived here this last week, so that would be really neat if it did get updated. I have heard a lot of rumors and seen a lot of pictures, hopefully some of those will be right!
