Haha, just when I was fed up reading these forums and putting myself through hell while waiting for the new MBP, I read something like this and I'm hooked all over again.

I hate to break it to you but its not coming next week. The most likely scenario now is the 26th with the rumored iPhone SDK event. I refuse to get excited or speculate on next week because it just doesnt seem very likely.

No one is doing anything to you. You and the rest of this forum are doing this to yourselves. Apple did not announce they were updating the MBP's anytime soon. This was created from MR and you are all buying into it.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the current line of MBP's, you just want the Penryn for whatever reason. After you start up your computer the last thing anyone thinks about is the processor type running it.
Please don't say that you are waiting because the new MBP will have a new 8800 GPU because you don't know that for sure.
One poster earlier said he was going to get a Vaio because Apple is taking too long, well carry on your threat and buy the Vaio. Again there is nothing wrong with the current line, the specs are fantastic and if you think it's not worth buying then buy something else but stop acting like Apple is doing something to you and they are leading people to believe new MBP's are coming any day.
Apple is not obliged to release products along with Inte's chip releases.

And, now that I think about it, there's another reason why Steve wouldn't have a rolling chair. He might roll over his MagSafe! And we all know what the outcome could be of that!
This forum helps me get through my days! Especially picturing an entire angry mob of us charging the Apple Campus. Either that or we should each rally at our local Apple store and start a picket line.

yeah, I might as well throw my 2.4 SR MBP in the trash once Penryn comes out, being how it will be too "outdated" to use. Will the update really make that much of a difference for the majority of its users? Psychologically, yes.Whatever makes you feel better man.
For the record, I'm not against waiting (within reason). I waited for months for a damn update (which never came) and I could not wait any longer. The current model is more than enough for what I need. For those that can wait, let them wait. But this incessant moaning and groaning, and obsessive watching can easily turn into a disorder. NOTHING is worth that, Penryn or whatever.

Couldn't agree more - and when I suggested as much in another thread, the sense of humour that Mr. Funsocks deemed a requirement for this process, ironically, vanished.
Loving my refurb S.R. MBP. Loving not waiting anymore. Loving the extra cash in my bank account.

Bought a macbook pro 2.6 to add to my apple arsenal.
See you guys when 4 quad cores hit laptops...I think any update till then is minuscule and not worth killing myself over...i mean a core 2 duo will act as core 2 duo at the end of the day their architecture cant be changed dramatically for numerous reasons......
Increments of .200mhz 20% decrease in nm size. They sell youa dream but in reality
nothing major changes specially with apple they never implemenet fully what hardware can really offer into their laptops.

I'll go one step further and say it's probably not even hitting then.

Man, this "waiting" thing is really starting to get irritating....before the late Feb event was announced, I told myself that I would just buy a MPB on the 19th even if there is no update; but now I guess I'll just wait until the 26th to hand over my cc to apple.

What are you doing in this forum? You seem happy with whatever it is that you have. You do not belong here! Go away with your happy self! True and I'm not that upset about the wait. like I've said before my Ti PBG4 is chugging away. It's time for a new MBP and I've got some one waiting to buy my Ti superdrive for $650.00. I'ts my day off from my 45hr. week so I enjoy perusing the waiting forums. Hey...what are you still doing in theses forums HLdan...I was almost friendly with you, you happy with your present Mac...coming into our waiting forum to taunt us....guy...I'm pulling the poltergeist on you and in creepy whisper, I say GEEEEET OUUUUT!
Until the MBP gets voice recognized cloaking device, EVERY update will be minuscule! .....whoah, where'd my laptop go?
LOL, alright, I'll stop being mean. I'm just having fun, I know what's it like to be waiting for something especially a new computer, it's fun to get something new. I bought my new iMac 24" and I waited a month after ordering for it to ship and I was really excited when it arrived. I ordered Time Capsule after the Keynote and it won't be shipping until the first week of March and that's bummer because I actually NEED to be backup my stuff as I don't have an external hard drive.
My situation is little different as far as waiting because I knew what I was getting because I ordered them but I fear this forum a lot in regards to the MBP. I'm afraid that it won't be this radical change that people are expecting and we all know this forum gets crazy upset if Apple misses a feature or two.
Also the Mac Pro took a year before the next model arrived and it could happen on the MBP and I fear that people on this forum don't take that into account.
Also no one has taken into account that Apple recently added the option for a 2.6Ghz CPU on the MBP and that could very well be a way for Apple to satisfy customers so they can push back any upgrades to the MBP.
Anyways, it is time for an upgrade for you, I hope you can get the money for your TiBook on Ebay, it's a bit high for a machine that old. The PPC Macs don't hold as much resale value now that the Intel Macs have arrived.
