Anyways, it is time for an upgrade for you, I hope you can get the money for your TiBook on Ebay, it's a bit high for a machine that old. The PPC Macs don't hold as much resale value now that the Intel Macs have arrived.

Actually, the same Tibook sold for almost $700.00 recently on e-bay and I'm actually selling this to someone at work who has admired my Ti book for awhile, knows I take great care of it, knows I have all the original software for it and the original box it came in. They priced it and offered me $650.00 for it. They have to wait with me because This computer is mine until the newer MBP's arrive, however long it takes.

Also no one has taken into account that Apple recently added the option for a 2.6Ghz CPU on the MBP and that could very well be a way for Apple to satisfy customers so they can push back any upgrades to the MBP.

Whaaat? At this late point in the Penryn wait game the only way that would satisfy me is if 2.6Ghz was the base processor in the $1999 model

Whatever -- Come Feb 26, I'm going with the best Penryn equipped laptop available at the time. If it has to be a Vaio or an XPS because deems it more important to focus on the iPhoney SDK, so be it. I'm a big boy, I can handle that.

The TiBook is a classic in my opinion. It started a ball rolling at Apple and now here we are waiting for MBPs. I still see ads in current magazines that use the TiBook as "staging" fodder in their photos.

Just wanted to say that I just ordered a new 15 inch MBP! I maxed everything out except for memory and I'm looking forward to receiving it!!! (though in the back of my head, I feel like I may regret it?)

My 12 inch PB's battery can barely hold a charge, I need higher resolution for my tired eyes slaving over foru... papers, and it's gotten to the point of slow-dom that I need a replacement. So those are my excuses for this purchase. Legit?

I'm in the exact same boat as you. I no longer have the patience of that where I'm ready to man it out for another 2 months or whatever it is until Apple finally decides to stop playing with the baby products. OSX is nice, but I have always been fine with windows, and ultimately will not be a deciding factor if nothing comes out on the 26th. Most likely I'll go with an XPS or something

Mine holds little to nothing, I bought it second hand on-the-cheap and I just happened to check the battery and it was eligible for a replace, so now Apple's shipping me a free £75 new battery

Apple is not obliged to release products along with Inte's chip releases.

You're right. They can just stand by and watch the legs they're standing on be cut from under them. Computers aren't that important anyway, right?

You need to seriously lay off the kool-aid if you think the current MBP specs are a "great value". I'm cool with paying the Apple premium and all, but not for outdated hardware.

man..I really wished Apple would've released the update but of course the 10.2 wasn't released till yesterday...my prediction it will happen on the 26th where Jobs will announce the SDK for iPhone's or March 4th. My guess is that the development team are obviously working(BEEN WORKING) on the redesign..if there was any updates for the macbook pro's it would've been already updated by now.

My patience is running low but I need to wait it out...CMON!! RELEASE THE UPDATE

That's exactly what I was thinking. I remember the last time around that I was waiting like this for some crazy update. I'm glad that I just decided to go with the current 12 inch (at the time) as it was the last updated 12 inch to have come out prior to the announcement of the discontinuation of the 12 inch.

I have been enjoying this thread too. Every Tuesday seems like a Christmas morning and even when things don't pan out with a new MBP I don't worry much because I'm set on waiting for Montevina anyway. Though, when I think about it, since Nehalem is going to be a major update, it may be better to get an MBP now then sell it when Nehalem comes out. Anyone else planning on doing this? Does the MBP have a good resale value?
