Let us see what is coming
Probably no one can.I'm about to crack and pull the trigger. Someone please give me a reason to wait beyone Feb.
Probably no one can.
I would say:
If you need a MacBook Pro now to work: buy on March 1st
If you can wait: wait
I will continue to wait, because I do not have to switch to the MacBook Pro. My Systems are all still running well. Concerning the speedbump between the current MBP and the upcoming Centrino 2/Penryn it is worth waiting for me.
Has apple ever skipped an intel update for the MBPs?
I hope you like to wait.
I'm sure people from Apple visit this site. How about instead of the stats growing, we start dropping out. Show them that we won't wait that long for a darn computer, maybe they'll feel like they should hurry a bit more.
Ok, take my name out, I'm going back to a PC![]()

Ya know, I've really been thinking, and I wonder how many others are in the same boat with me, but I'd really be cool with buying a current MBP if the prices were adjusted for todays market.
I gave my word and I'm sticking to it. No MBP by next Tuesday and my money goes to Dell. The XPS M1330 is a nice little laptop and will be more than enough to last my daughter through college (2.5GHz Penryn, LED screen, 3GB RAM, 200GG 7200 rpm hd, 3 year in home service -- all for under $1600).
Enough said.
I agree. If Apple (and many people) thinks the current model is good enough, then at least adjust the price to reflect the lowering cost of the components.
No, I do not have a better place to grab a current MBP for lower pricing. Concerning your needs it really is the best way.I sold my old powermac with the intention to buy a new macbook pro immediately, only to come on here and read the rumors. Then I was thrown into the waiting game. I'm using my gross PC box right now which runs none of my software. I had to download the CS3 trials and they all just ran out. I have 3 deadlines approaching (The first one on March 13) So a mac is very much a need thing for me. I guess I'll just wait until the end of February and buy a refurb, so if the new one comes out I can at least know that I didn't pay for a brand new one. (Or do you have a cheaper place I can get one?)
Then buy a macbook if you want to talk about Apples vs Apples. Right now the 13.3" 1330 is the same as the MB. You are compairing a 15.4" screen to a 13.3" screen. Plus all the trimmings. These aren't on the same level of laptops. Sure a Yugo has an engine and four tires but so does a Lexus.

Whaat? Let's see: does the MB have an LED screen? Does it have a video card? Does it not have a non-durable plastic case? can you get it with Penryn? So excuse me, but I think it is the MB that is the Yugo in your analogy.
