Well Feb 26th I'm going to be in the states and at an apple store. I'm walking out with a laptop.

2.4GHz 15" MBP for $2,319.99 + $150 rebate

amazon.com just lowered their price of 2.4GHz 15" MBP to $2,319.99. With a rebate of $150, you can get your current MBP for only $2,169.99.

This price won't affect me anyway, because I live in Indonesia. But who knows it can help you guys who live in the States to make a decision. I just bought my MBP yesterday and there's no such thing like return the item within 14 days in Indonesia.

Sorry if this kind of post has been made previously.

Just some speculation here....

It took 2 months for apple to release the Penryn Mac Pros after the launch date of those chips. (November 11th - January 11th?).

Mobile Penryn was launched January 7thish?

This would make early-mid March the 2 month mark.

Anyone think there is any correlation/logic to this?

The price I quoted includes the LED screen and NVIDIA 8400M 128MB video. I get an EPP discount on Dell.

I am willing to pay a premium for an MBP (all told, it will probably cost me ~$700-800 more than the XPS, even with an EPP/student discount). I've been promising my daughter a laptop (she's been effectively without her own computer for months), and the wait has to stop sometime. The current MBP is just not a good buy.

I'm not going to apologize for being a pragmatist.

P.S.
Their.

Go for it! I'm glad to see some people are going to just sit and play Apple's game...like me :(

bought Mac Pro instead

Bought a Mac Pro instead. Tired of waiting and I need a desktop replacement sooner rather than later. This should more than meet my needs and I will just keep using a 12" PowerBook for traveling.

Blu-Ray

A while ago, someone said there's no chance of an upcoming Blu-Ray option, as Apple's HD strategy lies within iTunes movie rentals. But someone didn't do their homework: iTunes only rents HD movies to Apple TVs, and those are below Blu-Ray resolution. Though the rental restriction that could change with a software update, I think that Apple would rather build Blu-Ray into its systems than cannibalize its sales by removing the exclusivity of one of Apple TV's main features. Apple's also been a member of the Blu-Ray Disc Consortium for a really long time, and they're into forward looking technologies and future standards - look at WiFi and FireWire. Whether or not we see Blu on the next MBP revision is up for debate, but eventually, I'm sure it'll happen. How could they not give their pro market the newest HD stuff? They've been updating their video apps to throw "HD" into their names for years now.

Pending MBP Update

I'm about to purchase some more Mac products.:)
Love the iMac, MBA and MBP..........iTouch:apple:
(My key MBP Update wish is make it cooler!!!!
A laptop should be able to sit in your lap and not brand your legs.)
Any rumors on lowering the operating temperatures.........
I'd like to see concurrent Time Capsule and MBP announcements.
I'm guessing fan management firmware??????

Somewhere... I think Macnn said that the Time Capsule is shipping Sunday, and will be in stock at Best Buy.

with a wait this long they better come up with something good...so much time wasted for this macbook pro...

Sounds plausible... in any case I think mid march would be the latest we would have to wait for an updated mbp.

yeah I also think so, granted that apple's products are always innovative and leading compared to competition, they cannot simply give some small updated version of mbp, because it would look pathetic compared to what dells and others have to offer now (hardware wise)...a simple catch up to others would be a super weak sauce

NCAA Final Four

If I was coming out with (a new generation MBP) or slick update....:apple:
:cool:NCAA March Madness on CBS:cool:
March Madness:) would have plenty of college eyeballs:) and working eyeballs:eek: checking out the latest products from Apple:apple:
SHOWCASE a totally new hip wireless environment with a few iPhone SDK tricks.....................WOW!!!!!!!!!
