This is great news. I actually emailed Belkin but they said it wouldn't be compatible. Does the 3G sit pretty securely?

Fits perfectly using the correct plastic adapter that came with the TuneSync. I moved from an iPod Touch, so I had to find the box I had stashed somewhere and get the correct adapter.

I haven't seen this so figured I would add to the list.

Kenwood DDX812 Head Unit w/ iPod cable

Charge: Yes
Audio: Yes
Message: Yes

This unit has bluetooth which works great with the iphone, however it will not work when plugged into the ipod cable so you get one or the other. Also if it works this way with my particular unit I would assume that it works the same way with the Kenwood DNX8120 and the 512 series as well. They're all similar type head units, difference is built in GPS and size of LCD with the 512x head units.

Jaybird Bluetooth Stereo Headset w/ Jaybird Bluetooth Adapter for iPod DOES play well with iPhone 3G.

Worked, amazingly, the first time, and, as far as I could determine, it is the only device that advertises its compatibility with the iPhone 3G.

(I bought the packaged Motorola S9 and Bluetooth adapter at the same time, but although it played stereo music just fine with the iPhone, and could originate phone calls without any problem, I could not get it to answer a call, despite meticulously following the order of pairing in the instructions. People report getting the S9 to work, so maybe it's me. I ended up preferring the Jaybird anyway, so I'll be returning the S9.)

I know others have posted about the Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus, but I have a slightly different model.

Monster iCarPlay Wireless 200 FM Transmitter:

Charge: No
Audio: Not tested (no songs on iPhone, but I think it's a yes since the Wireless Plus works)
Warning: Yes

iLuv i730 car kit (Bluetooth, FM, Charge) Fully Functional with Airport mode message (no interference heard over radio in non-3g area)

*edit* I noticed someone earlier mentioned iLuv products and they werent sure of the quality. I have a pair of BT headphones from them and this i730, and i swear by their products now, the build quality is usually excellent (i730 has one weak spot where the suction cup stand meets the dock, had to superglue it) and the audio quality is superior to most alternatives.

Can someone explain why a simple car charger that works with the original iPhone won't work with the iPhone 3G? I found some on Monoprice, but it says it's not compatible with the iPhone 3G. The dock connector should be the same (I'm using a usb/dock cable from an old iPod Mini to connect my iPhone 3G and it works fine), so I can't figure out why it wouldn't work.

The original iPhone would accept a charge from the original fire wire charge spec. (10 volts I think). They have since removed this spec from the 3G, which means ANY accessory that would charge a 3rd gen iPod(or earlier) will not work. The 3G iPhone will only accept USB charge voltage(5volts)

Onkyo iPod Dock (comes with some Onkyo Receivers/ home theatre systems) works with iPhone 3G. both charging and playing audio

I didn't think that TuneSync came with an iPhone-specific (especially 3G) adapter. Which adapter seems to fit the iPhone 3G well?

I have a Belkin FM transmitter (I think it's called TuneFM? Not sure as I threw away the box) that works! It's the one that connects to the cigarette lighter and transmits your music over a free FM station.

When I plug it in my iPhone comes up with an "accessory not supported" message, but surprisingly it works, and it also charges my phone. :D

The FMCup is listed as being able to charge the iphone. However, I'm getting the "charging not supported by this accessory" and the airplane mode warning message. I take it this doesn't charge then?

Pioneer DEH-P700BT Works and charges!

I had this unit ( Pioneer DEH-P700BT)installed yesterday. It works great and charges. Bluetooth phone calls work well.

I will admit I am very good with gadgets and this head unit is a bit confusing to use.

Up until this week I had an Alpine 9881 that worked flawlessly with my iPhone, but the new iPhone 3G would not charge with the Alpine unit.

I saw on the first page the ihome ih8 charged the iphone 3g but I saw when i went to buy the ihome ih9.... Anyone know if that works?

I assume if the 8 works the 9 will also. Any confirmation?

Message It won't charge my iPhone 3G. Says device not compatible. People talk about interference I get a bit, sometimes, but it works perfect otherwise. Why won't it charge it though. Charges through a dock on the shuffle connector.

This might help you with old accessories that won't charge...

We've got a JBL OnStage II speaker charging the iPhone 3G by using the iPhone's mains charger. I figured the built-in power supply would definitely be wired up old-style, but hoped that when they put in the dock socket (to allow it to be used as a sync cradle with a PC) they'd wired it all up - and it seems they have.

Ok, so it means you have two cables going into the speakers (without the brick the speakers don't work), but it also means we don't need to replace the speakers!

So, if you're trying to charge with an accessory that also has a dock pass-through, try plugging it into the mains USB charger and see if that'll work.

Sony ICF-C1iPMK2 works

Charges the phone, Audio playback works from the Sony Alarm clock and NO incompatibility message. I just tested this at Target today, so not sure why someone mentioned earlier the Sony ICF-C1iP doesnt work, not sure if thats a different model.

But only thing is this one is about $180 at Target.
