So bummed my debit card from Chase doesn't work. All my cc work though.

You sure? I added my credit/debit card and used it successfully at McDonald's earlier today. Can you just not add a card or you can't use it for transactions?

If you can't add the card, I would say to keep trying. I heard some people saying that they couldn't add it with the camera, but could add it manually or vice versa.

Did you miss the first phrase?

"While Apple Pay will work in any store that accepts contactless payments..."

Yeah, my Chase CC verified fine, but I had to add my Chase Debit card manually.

A few weeks ago I said Wegmans should accept Apple Pay, because they've always had NFC readers at their registers. They're on the list now, so this service is expanding RAPIDLY.

They got new Credit Card readers at my Wegmans this past week. I noticed it on Sunday and didn't know they'd do the ApplePay.

Of course, US only. Americans are often slow to realise that there are other places inthe world. :)

Yes. How dare a US-based company with established relationships with other US-based companies focus on the US first instead of delaying the thing perpetually to ensure it's released worldwide off the bat so someone's feelings don't get hurt...

I'd really love to see Apple Pay take off but it needs aggressive promotion during the holidays to encourage use, get people in the habit, and also get them to seek out Apple Pay stores. The CCs usually have holiday campaigns offering special discounts or rewards. It would be great if they focused some of those benefits to Apple Pay users.

Even if it was Spend $100 between XX date and XX date and get a $5 iTunes card or something like that.

Just tried at Target and they haven't added the NFC module to their readers. So much for being a launch partner.

Their NEW terminals do have NFC, it's just not yet enabled. Target, for reasons that I hope would be obvious, have other concerns now. I bet you'll see Apple Pay in store after the holidays.

I'm just assuming at Chevron you have to go inside, right? Wish you could do it at pump.

Pay-at-pump dispensers in the US have an extra two years (until 10/2017) to deploy EMV chip readers.

I'm hoping that most or all of them also add the EMV NFC reader option as well.

So while it does look like it works anywhere with NFC for some reason Chase is declining my transactions while Amex is ok.

On another thread, several people reported issues with their Chase card(s). Maybe they haven't quite got the bugs worked out yet....

Chase Debit Card Works

I got all my cards entered, including my Chase Debit card. Yes.. I was a sucker and decided to go and try it out at Walgreens. Here's where i'm dissapointed.. I still had to enter my PIN for my debit card. The security on NFC should be enough without having to enter your PIN. PIN's can be breached in a company's system also and tied back to create a card...

At least we are one step closer to paperless receipts and tighter financial security!! Thermal paper receipts are an IRS wet dream. They fade SO fast.

I still don't understand why they didn't put the NFC chip in the iPad.. yes, most people won't lug it around and whop that sucker out to pay for a transaction.. but they could have just put it in anyway after including the fingerprint sensor. Just makes sense. Maybe because the size was already so thin that they were pressed to find room for anything else?

i have a credit card that i use only as supermarkets. it'd be nice if ralph's and albertson's would adopt applepay. one less card to carry.

Just curious... with my PNC VISA debit card when I'm at a store terminal if I press the "credit" button it charges just like a VISA card. But if I press the "debit" button I have to enter my PIN just as if I was at an ATM. Also PNC charges me a fee for "debit" purchases but not VISA purchases made with the debit card. The end result is the same... the money is immediately deduced from my account.

Is that how your Chase card works and if so did you punch the "credit" button or "debit" button?

----------

So, I'm confused. Will it work anywhere that logo is or only at certain retailers?

It should work at any store that has a NFC compatible terminal.

Punched Debit

Good question.. I should have hit credit. Still, don't think a PIN should be required with that much security with debit. Damn.. now I have to go back and buy another soda!! LOL!!

for most CC/Debit Card combos the Bank charges the Retailer for Credit and the Customer for Debit purchases.

Now I might just run out to buy a gallon of Milk tonight at either BJs or Wegmans.

wondering if they'd be ready for ApplePay.

i couldn't find any setting to use the cards on file with iTunes. i added both my capital one cards. they both came back please call capital one to verify the cards. it took about 5 minutes on the phone to wait for them to activate the iPhone. the # i called was capital one. i also could of used the capital one app. the # i called wasn't
capital one's regular customer service number, but a special tech support number that answered immediately.

i tried my barclay card, but its not supported yet.

i assumed you had to have wifi or cellular to do the actual transaction, but someone told me that wasn't true. my iPhone doesn't have active service yet

mcdonalds went smooth.

Digital receipts for these purchases don't get emailed, do they? I'm assuming it's still paper receipts from the merchant?

If it's still paper, I hope that's something they can change down the line.

Can't use my PayPal MC business debit card...imagine that. I get 1% cash back for most all purchases, so, this sucks.

Can't use my bank debit card either.

(I tried with camera, manually, change my name to all caps exactly as on card.)

:(

I don't get why the card supplier needs to support Apple Pay...I should be able to use any card w/NFC, that's essentially all this does.

Yeah, that's the one. Except now it's even more secure, it'll actually be popular and mainstream, used commonly in every day conversations, and used by millions.

It's still going to take many years before the majority of businesses in the US have implemented NFC technology. We will continue to use cash and cards for some time.

For most locations, they are already setup for paperless receipts.. unfortunately you have to ask them for a digital receipt.. Walgreens does it, CVS, etc. It SHOULD be the other way around and ask if you want a paper receipt!

.

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think PayPal will be around much longer. PayPal was invented to move to a paperless society before the push on NFC. Now that EBay has DROPPED PayPal completely as a separate company, if they go south really quickly.. They can separate themselves from that easier - or use both PayPal and ApplePay without a major conflict of business interests.

Look at the major retailers that AREN'T supporting ApplePay right now.. hmm.. most of them take PayPal!! HomeDepot, Wal-Mart.. etc.

The real question is, with the volume of business that Wal-Mart gets.. how long before they drop PayPal for ApplePay? Not long!

It just doesn't make sense to me that banks need to have anything to do with it, when the card goes through VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX, or Discover systems before going to the bank, so, I'd think it'd be all on them.
