Nope, stock apps are pretty good at detecting numbers but it doesn't work in Reminders in iOS 7, either as the Title or in the Notes. You saying it did in iOS 6?

I think it did. One time I set a reminder to call someone. In the app, I saw a link that provided quick dialing of the contact's phone number. I have to say, it'd be nice to have that feature back. Not that I miss it.

ability to delete messages within a conversation. which i used a lot when i got photos texted to me. I'd save the photos I want and then delete that bit of out of message stream.

ability to download videos from within the video app. it was there in the betas although it did like to bork up and would often only appear if one had manually (aka got into the itunes store app) downloaded at least one file from that series. then the rest could be downloaded directly. which is not how it did and should work when 'show all' is turned on. Ability to pick the quality of the download was missing since like beta 5. in iOS 5 it was SD/720/1080 then in ios 6 it was SD/HD and not it's nothing. personally i would like the ios 5 version back and for both downloading and streaming. even if it was just as a setting of a default and if you wanted to break that then you have to go to the store where it would let you pick from all the available choices. Also the ability to see what you have bought in store results has been missing for a while. as is being able to trigger a download.

those are the biggest things I've noticed.

Although I've heard reports that several apps are missing the ABC strip down the side. I noticed that in the video app but couldn't recall it ever being there so i don't think that's an iOS 7 thing. Also heard that album searching and playback is all borked up and compilations are still screwing in iOS 7 and iTunes 11 (they don't bundle together like they used to as a whole title but are under the artist)

There is actually a ability to delete message from conversation.
You need to tap at a message, wait 3 seconds and then click "more".
Then you can normal delete messages like in iOS 6.

Silent Mode Indicator

Has anyone else noticed the Silent Mode (vibration) indicator is missing from the bar at the top of the screen? It used to have a picture of a bell with a line through it when Vibe was on but its gone now. Minor but still frustrating.

That has never been a feature of iOS. It was only possible through Jailbreaking.

I'm guessing you used to be jailbroken?

Lyrics are gone from the Music app – big bummer for me.

Yes they are, just tap the album artwork to bring them up.

That sucks.

That has not happened to me yet. That is odd.

----------

When I tap all that happens is the artist and song title changes to the rating. Is there anything else required? I have it enabled in Settings > Music > Lyrics & Podcast info. Does it only work on certain albums? I'm trying it on an iTunes purchase from a fairly popular band.

edit - my bad, seems you have to add them in iTunes. I don't use Music much but was interested in this lyrics feature, which I wrongly assumed would pull them from an online source.

Nope, you have ot add them.

I use Get Lyrical on the Mac- fantastic.

Oh wow...I was but I dont remember ever adding that feature. Ok then well I feel stupid.

Yeah the decline button for calls is gone when the phone is locked. You can still do it by pressing the sleep/lock button twice, but the on-screen button is gone in that case.

This is horrible! It was always SLIDE TO ANSWER and double-pressing sleep button on the lock screen! Why do people always say it's iOS 7's fault? IN THIS CASE, IT'S YOUR MEMORY'S FAULT!!!

Apologies if it was already mentioned but what happened to the playing symbol in the status bar? I really miss that.

In iOS 6 the decline call option was also available on the lock screen as well (behind a pull up menu).

Usability, attention to detail and that magic that IOS used to have.
As a long term apple user, I am not happy with the changes in IOS 7 and am now looking at alternatives.

Which is a damn shame.

Hey guys, so i'm starting to notice some things we lost in the iOS & update. Post what you notice is now gone. So far I noticed:

- Ability to compose facebook statuses and tweets in notification centre
- scrollable calendar in Reminders app
- Loss of integration of some apps in notification centre like Wunder list
- Cover flow?? ( whatever that grid looking thing is, its hideous

What have you guys noticed?

You can still ask siri to send a tweet or fb post. But yes i used to like the ability to do the same from the notification centre

Theres the door - > so long.

The OS came out last month and people act like end of the world. I like iOS 5 stability and the maps app, then went to iOS 6 and it sucked the look was same with nothing new for iPhone 4 but I lost my maps. However by the end of iOS 6 it was a good OS. This didnt happen in the first month it took over half a year of updates.

Having been initially stung by iOS 6 I got the beta of iOS 7 and the 3rd beta was astonishing and should of been where we left the phone. It had Panoramic wallpapers and my favourite custom labels for contacts information, something thats not in the final iOS on iPhone 4 but is mentioned in Apples new iOS 7 manuals for iPhone and iPad.

Also I don't like the dock frosted colour screwing up wallpapers or wallpapers being stretched and I hate Control Centre greyover the nice Notification black.

Maps is still a joke as my city in the UK is still about 7 years out of date and you zoom in to far you get no image.

Standard voice controls are a joke still too.

And the issue of a file system to store incomin documents for use with Apples peoductivity and creativity apps.

There are many things wrong but they will be fixed and improved upon. Prople keep saying theyve had enough and are looking elsewhere should just shut up or go. Stop looking for attention.

Yes I would like to see the buttons back in a future update in control centre though. Does feel weird having intergration in settings but no post to ability outside of siri. We dont always want to talk outloud what we want to post, theres also tweets in safari that feels out of place due to lack of interaction.

My guess is that these features were buggy and will arrive in a future update to iOS 7.

I remember the big backlash about iOS 6. Not only was Maps a disaster (it's gotten a lot better in the US, though), Exchange access had issues that took nearly 2 months to resolve. My employer and lots of others recommended holding off and published lists of workarounds for those of us with the iPhone 5 or who had already upgraded. It seems every new iOS release has battery drain issues at the start.

People gripe about what we "lost" but don't mention what we've gained. I like the control center. My Nexus One had broadly similar functionality back in January 2010 and it's nice to see it make its way to iOS in a typical elegant Apple fashion.

What's probably more helpful than posting complaints here is providing feedback through formal channels about legitimate functionality you'd like to see return. No, Apple isn't going to "go back" to the Scott Forstall era of skeumorphism, etc. Apparently the look and feel of a UI is one area that Jony Ive and Steve Jobs didn't see eye to eye. But we might see some functionality added, just as we saw most of the bugs in iOS 6 fixed.

Probably mentioned but maybe not here.

Automatic App Update is off. Unless I go into the App Store first, there is no indication of # of apps waiting to be updated.

Great post.

Agreed too many jump on the hate band wagon not rememering what happened before. I hope the lost functionality does come back as it was really useful stuff.

As for the look of iOS 7 I like it. Im tired of felt and stitching. A nice colourful bright interface looks good. I dont think Ive was totally against the old look but he does prefer this clean simplified style as its much more inline with his ethos.

Why do I keep seeing posts about custom labels? What's wrong with the custom labels they have implemented? Am I missing something?

Number highlighting when using keypad in Enter Passcode on my iPad. A function gone by way of Ive's hatchet job, making the user interface less intuitive and more difficult to use. This iOS isn't State-of-the-Art like some want to believe.:(
