Little OS X Easter Eggs

I found the cookie recipe! Here's how to get it:

1. Open Terminal and paste in this, no quotes: "defaults write com.Apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES". Then type, without quotes, "killall Finder".

2. Open a Finder window and go to Macintosh HD, or what ever your HDD is and scroll down to the folder called "usr", no quotes.

3. Open "share" then "emacs" then "22.1" then "etc".

4. Look around at the neat stuff.

5. Open Terminal and paste in "defaults write com.Apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles NO", no quotes

6. Type in Terminal "killall Finder", no quotes.

Nice...

Not an easter egg, you're simply telnetting to "towel.blinkenlights.nl". Still cool though.

That is super cool... its been since OS 9 that i looked for Easter Eggs...

Definitely a shortcut.... command+D in a "Save/Save As" window and it will immediately change to your desktop folder to save to....

Is it possible to make the manpages found in the emacs easter egg work as real manpages on osx?

ctrl-alt-cmd-8 inverts the colours - any practical reason for this? just looks cool to me.

This is for sunlight brightness, it's supposed to make the screen easier to read in direct sunlight, I think I read that somewhere.

It's called high visibility mode, can be found on XP+ systems on the PC side too.

a lot of these are unix things, not apple. That said, they are fun. This one's my favorite, launch the terminal app (from the finder: cmd+shift+u, look for terminal) then type:

emacs -batch -l dunnet

It's a text based adventure game that was written by Ron Schnell back in 1983. Type "help" (without the quotes) after you start to get an idea of how to move around/explore etc.
