I agree with the Verge blog:

All of these people are captivating, and their shows sound interesting. But it's also such a grab-bag. Why did Apple want to make these shows, in particular? What is this service all about?

So from my point of view, this is what someone Tim Cook's age thinks is a cool viral way to get his streaming service trending on social media.

Netflix's shows are hyped organically through word of mouth. Someone on your Facebook watches it, tells you the show is awesome, you watch it, and you pass it on to your coworkers, etc....

Haunting of Hill House is a good example. Drops with little to no fanfare, my brother saw it and told me I had to watch it, watched the first episode, got hooked, etc...
