YAY.. keynote ended,, (and I wasn't here to witness it,.:( )

Is it just me, or was the only place to view the keynote in web browser this time? I had the events app installed on ATV4, but got black screen.I had to watch it on Apple's website.

Yes, but that is a company fighting for recognition that they are more than just cheap TVs. But do you see Samsung or LG doing that?

I bought a Vizio around 2012 and it was so terrible I sent it back. But the 2015 M Series got fantastic reviews, basically stating to get a TV that good from any other brand you'd have to spend at least twice as much. So I gave Vizio another chance. So glad I did. It's fantastic. I love it. Once you tinker with the settings the picture is awesome.

Works fine for me on AppleTV4 .
Try a Restart (reboot) so a new instance of the App will load.

To all the whiners having tantrums over services not being available in Europe, chill. It’s not Apple’s fault. Of course they want to offer them everywhere, but it’s not that easy. First, blame the EU and all their regulations. Then there are the publishers/networks/studios. Agreements have to be in place and not all of them are interested in giving Apple that 30% cut or in giving European rights. That’s why we get things in the US you can’t. ‍♀️ I’m sure Apple would love to offer all of their services everywhere and will as soon as they can.

Jeez when did little Opie become my grandpa? :eek:

He’s 65. The Andy Griffith Show premiered almost 60 years ago.

It feels like trying to use a PowerPC Mac today. Apple TV is expensive, but there is nothing else like it. Oh, and Roku's are filled with ads.

We have a Roku TV. We don’t see many ads at all except in the YouTube app.
[doublepost=1553836664][/doublepost]
Actors, directors, producers... please don't pretend your job is hard.

I’m friends with a few actors from some classic 60s, 70s and 80s shows. Not as easy as you think. Perhaps the actual acting is but there’s more to it than that. Navigating studio politics is a bitch. Definitely not for the faint of heart. Going on auditions can be demanding and demoralizing. Don’t bash unless you’ve been there yourself. Fame ain’t all that.
[doublepost=1553836838][/doublepost]
Except that Roku is incredibly slow and full of ads.

We have a Roku TV and it’s not slow at all. Not full of ads either.

I haven't used the newest one - I tried the ones that were out when the newest Apple TV came out.

But... How do you not notice the ads. The remote has four printed on it. The screen saver is covered with them and 1/3 of the menu is ads.

No idea what you’re on about. My remote has no ads, neither does my screensaver or the menu. If you’re going to bash something at least have accurate info instead of making things up.
[doublepost=1553837591][/doublepost]
Then why is my blood green ??? :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: :p

Are you a Vulcan? LOL

Great.
Disney raped Star Wars and Marvel,
now Apple rapes Sesame Street.
Doesn't it feel great to watch everything you loved growing up get defiled repeatedly in front of your eyes?

How disgusting. Please grow up, widen your vocabulary and have some respect for victims of the actual crime by not throwing it around so flippantly.

I am out of the loop I don't know what "jan" is Sorry

Oh my God you must be very young. Have you ever heard of The Brady Bunch?
[doublepost=1553839759][/doublepost]
NO it is not filled with ads. Why do Apple people feel like they have to put others down to justify Apple?

I don’t understand why 4jasontv keeps lying about Roku either. Not one thing he’s said is true.
[doublepost=1553839975][/doublepost]
Dude. There are ads on the remote, the menu, and the screen saver.
[doublepost=1553552834][/doublepost]

The Roku is limited, but that doesn't explain why it moves so slow. Googling Roku Slow shows many other people have the same issue.

[doublepost=1553553030][/doublepost]

My Apple TV has no issues. I have used multiple Roku's and they all have ads and can't scroll through content. I am not talking about streaming, I am talking about searching. If the item you want is 100 videos away you might as well call out of work because you won't make it.

Please stop feeding false information that a faster internet connection can make the device UI faster.

Dude, stop LYING about Roku. Not one thing you’ve said is true. You even admitted you have an outdated model. Ads on the remote? Are you high? There is no such thing. There is also no lag, no slowness and it’s not full of ads. There are zero ads on my screensaver, zero on my remote and zero on the menu. Stop. Lying.

I am not saying everything Apple does is good, I am saying facts. Roku is slow and covered in ads.

Dude, enough lying. This is my menu. Do you see any ads? Those are all the channels we watch/subscribe to.

This is my screensaver. (Roku has tons to choose from, we have the weather one) See any ads??

74DF6D05-8B6B-4D8C-A0ED-0CBC6B04FB4B.jpeg

It’s also NOT slow. Stop lying. If you don’t like Roku fine but stop making crap up to bash them. It only makes you look bad.

And ads on the remote? Get over yourself. They are short cuts to channels many people use regularly. Not ads.
[doublepost=1553841329][/doublepost]I’m sorry if I annoyed anyone with all my replies. Can’t sleep and got carried away. My apologies.

You replied to a post with pictures of the roku with ads on the remote, menu, and screen saver. How do you claim their are no ads when there are ads in every photo?

Also, as I have linked, people post issues with the roku having significant lag and being slow. I’m not the only person who has issues with how slow it is. Yelling doesn’t change facts. Look at the photos.

So you posted selected shots that hide the ads ... congrats you are deceptive. The default city landscape screensaver is covered in ads. Downloading other screensavers and paying to remove ads, or taking photos when the ad isn’t on the screen doesn’t mean they are not there. I’ve shown pictures of the roku screensaver, the default screen saver, having ads.

The menu is has ads. Move that cursor over to the right in the menu. Are you saying their are no ads now? Let’s see your remote... does it not have an ad for Netflix, Hulu, or others? Of course it does. Stop being deceptive.

I don’t know why you feel the need to defend them. Their product is slow and covered with ads. It’s a fact. Anyone can see it. I’m not saying it’s good or bad, but what I’m saying is that we are not roku a customer we are their product. They sell ads not streaming solutions.

Do you think coupons aren’t ads? Come on now just because some people find them useful doesn’t change what they are. Maybe the buttons are useful for you, but they are not there for your convenience. They are their because roku was paid to put them there. They have admitted to that. That is what makes them ads. You can’t change what they do. You can’t get a roku remote without them. You can’t remove them. They are ads.

No one needs to take my word for how slow it is. They can try it and see how it can’t load art in Netflix or Hulu as they scroll through the list. Hold the button on your remote and move 20, 50, 100 items and watch it hiccup and struggle to keep up with the request.

Um, didn’t post any photos of my remote. Those photos were of the menu and screensaver on my Roku TV. Nothing is hidden. There are zero ads. It’s as simple as that. Stop lying. You admitted you have not used anything but an outdated Roku so you have no idea whatsoever what you’re talking about. My Roku TV has no ads and is fast. All of those squares on the menu are channels we subscribe to and watch. Not ads. We use Netflix, Sling and Amazon Prime so those buttons on the remote are convenient shortcuts. Not ads. We don’t use HBO but if we did that would also be just a convenient shortcut. Not an ad. My screensaver simply has no ads, period.

I’m defending them because you won’t stop LYING. You are a LIAR. If you don’t like Roku fine, but stop making stuff up to support your hatred. Again, you admitted you’ve only used an ancient version.

You hid the ads by carefully selecting your shot. And it’s true you didn’t include the remote because you can’t hide those. But I’ve shown it. You should really be in marketing.

I used a 2018 version. If that’s ancient than people shouldn’t buy roku because they don’t support their stuff and not because it’s slow and covered in ads.

The buttons are ads. They serve as ads. They were sold as ads. They act as ads. They are ads.

No, there were no ads to hide, period. And there are no ads on the remote. There are shortcuts to the most popular services. So what? Apple gets a 30% “commission” on everything, is that also a problem? Stop being such a LIAR.

It’s not the same thing. Apple gets 30% on services, but they don’t shove them down my throat when trying to launch an app. You hid them. You tried to hide the ad, but I caught you and called you out. It’s ok, move on.

They are not confident if you don’t have the services and hit them accidentally. Also, I expect my devices to be built for me. Those buttons were not there for me they were there for roku.

You won’t sell a lot of roku boxes with that attitude.

Not everyone can be swayed by evidence, but maybe others will read this and see the truth in the face of your stories.

Perhaps but seems like Apple is veering into borderline territory. I’m not a fan at all with “channels”. And really dislike their tv app being crammed with 3rd party paid services without an option to completely disable it.

But like you say the alternatives like Roku are much worse.

Bottom line when I buy a tv season on iTunes that experience of viewing them should be second to none on an Apple TV. And that’s not the case. It stinks. The UI on atv 3 was better. Features that most streaming apps have are simply missing.

IMO Apple still needs to get this right. However when you see the head guy of services giving the presentation on the tv app (instead of a software head) things don’t bode well there. Cramming in services or channels takes priority over a well thought out app for your own stuff.

I saw a few odd episodes across the years, but I've never been a huge television watcher, always more of a movie guy. It's entirely possible I have seen this "sure jan" before but I have very vague memories of that show.
