I have to admit, the touch bar is cool, but it isn't enough for me to spill out $2500 clams for an upgrade. I am just not that impressed.

USB-C is an open standard like USB. Dongles are cheap and will get cheaper over time. I got a dongle that had 3 usb ports, HDMI, and a usb-c power port for $25 for the wife's Macbook.
Ah well... I'll see what they do with the iMac and Mac Pro line next year. My MBP has been giving way to the increasingly powerful iPad Pro anyway.

Yes. I remember paying for my MBP 2011 for about 2500-2600 with taxes; base model.
Sweet Baby, reaching over that keyboard to tickle that bar looks uncomfortable. Why didn't they just make the whole bottom half of the keyboard side a giant touchbar with force touch for trackpad?
Pricing is a little steep for what we're getting, but not outrageous. I'll confess, I was sure the touch bar would be a useless gimmick, but seeing it work with Photoshop (the only app I run) showed it as being useful. I don't think it's as useful as a pen/stylus is so I'll be looking at replacing my MBP with something running Windows.
Wow! That's a $400 price increase across the line on the already expensive standard Macbook Pros, and with the last generation Intel chip to boot!!! I'm sick of Apple, and this is the last straw. Apple's arrogant knows no bound.

I thought the same thing. I was SHOCKED when they unveiled pricing. I was thinking about maybe springing for a pro but no way now. Refurb macbook for me.
Exactly. And Lenovo reversed the change, as people do not like it. Let's just wait and see.
The "Touch Bar" reminds me of this:
Microsoft won the month! I can't believe it but Microsoft introduced a new product category and Apple.. .a new touchbar.
I thought the macbook pro was a home run till I saw the prices..

Cook and Ive need to go. These past 3-4 years have been so disappointing... They have no vision.
I was wanting to get an updated Mac Mini for a Plex server, can someone recommend something really basic and small? Doesn't need to be anything too fancy like the RAID stuff with a NAS. I'm just sick of opening my laptop everytime I want to stream stuff from my MacBook Pro to Plex on the Apple TV.
I could have looked the other way on the novelty touch bar if the prices weren't so insane.
