That was absolutely the first time I've watched a Mac event where I'm left with zero desire to buy anything on offer. More depressing (though not for my wallet :) is that for my usage, I honestly prefer what I already own! (maxed late '13 15" rMBP)

Sad times.
I've never understood people's obsession with always needing the latest when at only 3 years old you'd think one would be content and maybe even happy with something that usually doesn't need to be upgraded often.

I'm at a loss to explain what i just saw. did they really just call in the media for a special announcement just to announce the touch bar and the tv app? seriously? did they even watch microsoft's announcement the other day?

microsoft went to town studying what Steve Jobs did in the past and Apple has forgotten.

just a monumentally underwhelming announcement.

i'm a huge apple fan but this is ridiculous. i'm so pissed right now
No reason to get upset over tech. :)

yep I guess no desktop news
Any desktop they make would be inevitably compared to the Microsoft Surface Studio-- and even if, spec-wise, it turned out to be the superior machine-- it would pale in comparison-- simply because the Surface Studio looks to be so forward thinking.

Customer: but their ad said the touch bar on the new macbook pro 13". So why does this MPB13 not have it?
Apple: Oh, that's the low end new 13" that doesn't have it.
Customer: but your ad said it did
Apple: well, the mid tier one
Customer: mid tier new 13"?
Apple: yeah
Customer: but not the low end new 13"?
Apple Yeah

Yup, not confusing at all. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Not confusing at all.

"Do you want the one with the Touch Bar?"

Or...

"$1400 or $1700 (or whatever)?"

Not impressed. I do like the touch bar, but missing the USB ports? No thank you. I don't want to have to use a dongle for everything. I'm still using my 2012 13 inch macbook pro that I upgraded to 16GB of RAM and 2TB SSD because I like the upgradeability.

Well, that was kind of weak. No need for a keynote honestly.

The Touch Bar looks cool, but I don't need all of that.

I was hoping they'd either drop the price on the MacBook or offer up some update to the Air. Ugh.

I just realised I own the last truly functional Mac book pro. I'm going home to make sure it doesn't break any time soon- there are no reasonable replacements.

What have they done?

It's the same reason i'm keeping my Macbook Pro (Early 2015)... the rest i don't see anything for me anyway... Not to say there anything ,, but for me personally... nothing is out there

Prices are exactly what they always are. Base top end MBP 15" is always 2299-2499

Base 15" was $1999 before this update, so no.

Granted the new base 15 has discrete graphics and the touch bar, but it is still higher priced than the outgoing model.

Totally forgot that this was going on today and slept in. Just woke up, and judging by the comments from the last 10 pages on this thread, I'm glad I missed it. Touch bar. 4 thunderbolt ports. Some long cringey dj demo. $2400 starting. Yeah, I can't really say this new MacBook Pro is for me.

If you only based your buying decisions on the comments here, you'd never buy any Apple product.

wow, no updates for Mac Mini and Mac Pro. I hope a silent upgrade. Shame on you Apple.
This is all that they good do in 4 years time. Any no name brand will have it before Apple starts shipping. It's so much expensive air. Even the audience looked ashamed to me. When hearing the voice of Ive again my neck hairs spontaneously starts to raise.

No power Macs no iMacs just a touch bar

so shrunk a little, add a touch bar. that's it. no new imac, no macbook air (i guess they cant shrink it anymore). meanwhile microsoft is actually innovating, their new all in one looks very nice.

apple just doesnt have the passion anymore to innovate, it's about squeezing steve job's achievements as much as they can.

The only thing they ever did after jobs that was somewhat innovative is the apple watch, and that didnt have anywhere close to the impact the iphone, ipad, and the macbook had.

so sad
