Geez how dense can people be? The word "new" was not capitalized. The name is just iPad. Not, "New iPad" or "iPad 3" or "iPad HD". Just iPad. Why is that so hard to grasp?

I thought iPad was the original iPad, version 1, the first one to ever be released. How would this one being named the same as the first make sense? And why break the numerical logic that has followed iOS, the iPhones, and the previous iPads? It's just much easier to use numbers.

Hanging on the Accs page and no pictures. I just want to buy it. UK Store...

I'm debating between 16gb and 32gb and 4G or not.

Now that you can download movies with icloud again, space isn't much of a concern. All my files are on the cloud anyway. $100 savings could be used for a nice case and some left over savings. Could use my iPhone has a hotspot for my wifi and save another 100 bucks but pay more in data usage fees... decisions!

But is that just for iTunes purchased movies or all of one's own ripped movies?

Canadian site must be getting hammered. I can't even get to the store. Please don't buy them all before I can get in...:(

Yet you said this is "Nothing your average Joe or Jane will be talking about in the hallway." and that "at that price range, I think you need a lightning bolt feature to get the masses talking and interested in a $500-800 tablet. "

But this is completely false, everyone will again read about and want an iPad, and they will most certainly continue to shell out $500-$800 for one, so your feigned 'meh' at the new iPad is laughable and completely divorced from reality

A lot of people would like an iPad (and a lot of people don't), but a lot of people are on the fence at that price point. It's not cheap. It's the price of a mini or an average PC. It's not an impulse purchase unless you're fairly affluent. So what I mean is, this "New iPad" isn't going to do much more than the iPad 2 to get that large mass of people really galvanized towards a purchase. There's no watercooler feature like Siri to make people say, "Wow you know, I really don't need this $600. Please take it." I'm sure it'll sell well, but I don't think it'll break through to additional audiences.

So they are even calling it "The new iPad" on the site.
Not "iPad", but "The new iPad".

After getting timed out several times, I just got the "We'll be back soon" message. (UK)

What a joke. Isn't this a computer company? Turn the fricken iCloud off so that we can order.

I was hoping against hope that they would announce an iPad version of Aperture. Unfortunately, I think that the new iPhoto moves that possibility all the way past "unlikely" to "snowball's chance."

As a photographer, iPhoto is a half-measure. I want to be able to just take my iPad with me on the road, edit and post the photos, sync up via dropbox or someothersuch thing. With this, I'd have to edit twice, keeping none of the editing data.

Damn.

I still might buy this, but it's no longer a no-brainer.

Absolutely. Totally agree. The iPad is a great consumer device with a lot of promise, but it doesn't quite yet get the professional workflow yet. I have a Nikon D4 on pre-order and I want photos to transfer to the iPad as I take them, wirelessly, make a couple of quick edits, and post/send them off.

The frustrating thing is just how close it is to this level of integration. Real Racing HD is going to be awesome though :D

Rumours, rumours, rumours

Can someone start off a new thread for the 'wished for' upgrades to the 2013 model iPad - I'm already bored.

Its a table PC for God's Sake and to keep the cash flowing, you are only ever going to see Apple make incremental updates - its their business model you see!

Still, I'm typing this on a iMac, I prefer OSX over iOS and liked Apple when it was a computer business - its now a consumer electronics business much like Sony.

Hopefully, Android competition will up the game and Apple will be forced to match these new devices.

Also, whilst Apple stock may be the investment of the day, like other business this will change sooner or later - anyone remember how Microsoft were going to take over the world!!!!!

As with the iPhone 3GS its a reasonable update, shame about no increase in storage, but I for one will purchase one for my daughter in November this year - hopefully a good priced used model and add AppleCare myself.

Now for the iMac, Mac Pro and iPhone5 rumours.
