Maybe. At the very least it'll have the info on the new item(s) up and the release date and the preorder date.

The Dev Portal is not down so does anyone think that they will release the GM of iOS 5.1 today?

If they're using 5.1 on the hardware being announced today, we'll see it anywhere from today to the day before the new hardware is available.

Apple doesn't believe in livestreams, too afraid of messing up and not being able to edit it out.

Live streams take a lot of bandwidth. Apple has done live streams from time to time, although they've been in a great decline over the years.

They don't need to take down the Dev Portal to post updates. But I don't think it would be released today. I would bet a couple days before the new iPad ships.

Anyway, the new iPad is not going to be called the iPad HD, iPad 3, or even iPad Retina. Because the display is removable, it will be called the iPad Detached Retina, or just Detached Retina for short.

My prediction:

1. Haptic film included with new model
2. $39 film for iPads 1&2
3. Also available in 3.5" for iPod touch and iPhone.

ATV3 predictions:

1. ATV3 has A5X dual-core chip
2. ATV3 has 16GiB "storage" instead of current 8GiB.
3. ATV3 comes with 9W internal power supply, rather than current 6W
4. ATV3 has same price ($99/119€)
5. ATV3 does NOT support 1080p at release
6. ATV3 updates to 1080p support with iOS update after iTunes store is ready (3 months and iOS6 required)
7. ATV3 is jailbroken within 2 weeks
8. PLEX/XBMC get 1080p out the hardware prior to Apple's official release

China store offline, and we won't be getting ATV3 can't even buy the ATV2 officially yet! and despite the fact that the IPAD is made only a few miles from where I live I guess that we won't be getting the IPad 3/HD/Turbo or whatever for a little while.

Might pop over to the airport to see if any have fallen off the back of a cargo plane.
