My girlfriend has a cousin who heads up security for Yerba Buena Center. He texted what is written on a just-unveiled banner. Apparently, the new iPad definitely is going to have a retina display. But what's cool is that the display can be removed for security purposes, kind of like how you can remove the faceplate of a car stereo.

Anyway, the new iPad is not going to be called the iPad HD, iPad 3, or even iPad Retina. Because the display is removable, it will be called the iPad Detached Retina, or just Detached Retina for short.

True story.
How can this get -2?? It's friggin' hilarious!

IOS 5.1 will be out for devs today because they need some time to update graphics in their apps.

A 5.1 beta is out now for devs. There might be an update today for devs but I still don't think it will be GM. I hope I'm wrong.

Interesting... new annoucement for iPad HD?

Did a bit of digging, this probably means bugger all and I'm reading too much into it but the image name for the blue coming soon banner is "ACME_830_807-attcom-Vortexx-MRQ-emailcapture-BG_AA001HD9.jpg"

HD?

Cnn

I usually look at the stream here: http://live.cnn.com/
They have todays event listed there as "TBD* Apple likely to make iPad announcement" and it should be streamed with an 10 to 20 minutes delay.

Pull what off? Everyone live blogs it. If anyone has the audacity to live stream it themselves they get kicked out.

Meaning they've been blacklisted from Apple events since they bought the stolen iPhone 4 prototype and published it. Unless Apple doesn't check for invites/press credentials, either Apple lifted Gizmodo's ban or some blogger is really sneaky.

So according to 9to5mac:

Some news: We’ve just got the name of the B82 part: Updated Apple Digital AV Adapter

Oooooooh. Right over my head, totally forgot about that.

honestly i'd rather neither of them take the stage, i always about fall asleep when they start talking, Give me Scott Foristell, least he has excitement in his voice
yeah but he's almost too over eager to where it comes across as weird. Like when he donned the white lab coat and googles for a demo (which iirc was botched) during WWDC 2009. I actually think Phil Schiller does a decent job.

Which feed do people feel is best, based on past events?

• Engadget • Ars Technica • The Verge • gdgt • Macworld • AllThingsD • CNET • SlashGear
Well, normally I'd say Engadget, BUT about 8 very prominent people from there left and formed The Verge so I feel like the upstarts probably have something to prove on all fronts, including live keynote blogging. I'm going to have both windows open. :D

engadget is so bad now, their editors keep having to get corrected by commenters, the verge is much better

PErhaps they need to just hire someone for keynotes, in all seriousness, it wouldnt be a bad thing to do. let the business people do business, the creative people create and a show-man to show.

Worse... someone 31 days ago bought a brand new iPad 2 at full retail.

I saw someone walking out of an Apple store 10 days ago happily clutching her brand new iPad 2. I felt sorry for her, but there was nothing I could do.
