doh!!

missing an Optical Drive...stinks

but LOVE the Fusion Drive...a smart harddrive.

Every hardware manufacturer has. Apple s acting like they invented the wheel here.

Yeah.

And now announcing, USB 3.0 Apple style

I had a Momentus XT back in 2010. Hated it, so I returned to optibay (when I had the 13" MBP): SSD in place of optical drive with OS and main apps and media hard drive in hard drive place for media and all other stuff that isn't speed intensive.

A GT 640M and a GTX 660M? Ouch, they both use the same GK107 core with 384 shaders.

Yeah.

What made you hate it?

I'd personally rather have usability and flexibility than a thin iMac. It's not like you are carrying it around, it sits on your ****ing desktop.

That's why it has the hybrid drive (aka "fusion drive"). Maximum storage and maximum performance at a reasonable price.

O god here we go...

Apple Fusion Drive = Hybrid drive

Hybrid drives have been out for ages, and here they go touting it as something new.

This doesn't appear to be a hybrid drive. Based on the internals that were shown, there are actually two separate drives here, managed as a single logical drive by the system.

and to say "fusion drive is built into os x" is a load of crap. I had a hybrid drive in my old 2007 white intel iMac - it does the hybrid work itself.

Anyone who actually thought they'd make a 27" Retina display needs to grow a brain. Jesus... do the math. THINK.
