Looks like you can't self-upgrade RAM. Appears to be inside the iMac and not accessible as in prior versions.

At least Apple's up with the rest if the world..

.....eventually.

Apple is assumming everyone has cable/DSL internet..

They like to leave those areas on Dial-up, out of the picture. They expect everyone to buy their external superdrive.

.. Or Remote from another computers drive

"No technology has impacted students more"

Umm wait...The personal computer? The internet....?

FYI all a hybrid drive is, is a standard drive with memory slapped on the control board. All Apple appear to have done is add another controller board, and put the flash memory elsewhere - its still the exact same system however.
For all we know it could just be an in-house implementation of Intel's caching support.

SO NO OPTICAL DRIVE FOR IMAC? So Apple assumes everything is moving to streaming for movies and music? I still would like to rip my music and we can not rip DVDs through iTunes until the movie industry sucks it up. Sucks that we would have to buy separately a super drive separately costly now.

Listen, if you can afford to lay down $1k on a computer, I'm sure you can splash out $30 for a USB DVD drive. Get over it ffs.

This does suck. When I update my late 2009 iMac in the not too distant future I will get the previous generation model that still has a built in optic drive

Does anybody know the name of the artists that were playing before the event began?
Cheers

Imagine Dragons were the last band I heard then my stream froze before the event started.

I thought I heard Foster the People as well, but I could be wrong, because I really wasn't listening when I first launched the stream.

shucks...guess spending more upfront now.

I liked holding off a couple years, then upgrading and feeling like a new machine.

maybe the repair shops will be able to do this soon.

these keynotes are getting soooooo lame.... and Tim cook makes them worse.

Not that new products aren't welcome, but when I turned to the live stream, I couldn't tell if it was todays event, or an old repeat. Same old talking points for every product. Same presentation. I wish they did an alternate 5 min. flash keynote, where they just simply came out and said which models are getting marginally faster, marginally thinner, what new specs are they getting... and save us the never ending hyperbolic "most awesome" bs.

And PLEASE, enough already with the screaming fans in the back: this cheering is getting old and predictable. I bet they are the same paid d-bags in every keynote.

Anyway... cheers!

Hmmm...not sure about that conFusion drive. Sounds iffy at best. The rest looks awesome. Who wants to buy my 2011? :D

This is one of the best Apple keynotes in recent memory. That said, I think the Mac mini didn't need any announcement.

I am giving Cook a C for his average presentation.

The grade goes up a letter if this was high school, another for middle school, A++ for elementary school.

Better be 100% in the cloud if you're buying this. I'm still a bit old school and still rip CDs and DVDs.

Same here, Cloud is not that cheap either I could purchase Amazon cloud but I rather not do that. How about DVDs or Blu Rays? You can not rip it through iTunes but there are softwares that do that even though it is not allowed. BIG MOVE from Apple, I wish streaming movies improved for Netflix and Amazon if only movie studios were not greedy especially ISP stop bandwidth capping and improve it instead.

I can't decide whether I'm in love with the new iMac or whether I'm annoyed that they are focusing too much on making it thin.
