This doesn't appear to be a hybrid drive. Based on the internals that were shown, there are actually two separate drives here, managed as a single logical drive by the system.

FYI all a hybrid drive is, is a standard drive with memory slapped on the control board. All Apple appear to have done is add another controller board, and put the flash memory elsewhere - its still the exact same system however.

That's Apple's MO. If anyone asks why they would make a desktop thin, there's the reason. Sleeker design that'll make previous designs look old and outdated, making you want buy the new model.

That is what a Hybrid drive is though... A small SSD and a HDD in one housing acting as one drive.

SO NO OPTICAL DRIVE FOR IMAC? So Apple assumes everything is moving to streaming for movies and music? I still would like to rip my music and we can not rip DVDs through iTunes until the movie industry sucks it up. Sucks that we would have to buy separately a super drive separately costly now.
