This iPod Touch has been the best thing about this annoucement, if they release it for the same price as previous models I may get one for a little one.

Because some people may want something just to play music and don't want to replace their phone and get tied to a 2 year contract. It isn't for me and may not be for you, but it is a product for some people. That is why you have a whole line of products - different ones for different people.

I find the "I would never use that so why it is there" attitude annoying. Somebody probably would use that feature even if you wouldn't.

Not quite my point, just seems a bit like buying a car with 3 wheels instead of 4, a few people have done it, there seems to be no good reason to do so however.

There's no technical limitation on why they don't. Apple Inc. can easily afford the bandwidth and servers.

Simply put, they don't want to. It's a private event for a hand-selected group of tech media.

It's not a football match.

Nope.

Nothing can be surmised from the online store closure. They close it every time they have a live product announcement, regardless of whether or not that product will be immediately available for sale or if a pre-order scenario is imposed.

It's been like this for years.

Iphone 5… preorder 9/14, ship 9/21, IOS6 release date 9/19

Yea unfortunately I'm on ATT and there is no LTE here so it's a non-feature for me. I was planning on switching to verizon, I have one phone I would need to pay an ETF on. Verizon has LTE in my area and it rocks.

If I like or can live with the larger phone I will probably wait until my contract is up and switch to verizon on the iphone 5. However I don't see enough difference here to pay my ETF and ditch my two 4s's.

All I'm saying this is the first iphone out of all of them that I won't order the day it drops. It's possible when I see it in person I will like it so much that I'll want to get it ASAP, but not likely.

My area has LTE on AT&T and Verizon, but Verizon coverage is much better and my verizon LTE iPad works great. I'm really tempted to just pay the ETF and move to Verizon. With the 3G/CDMA and the whole not being able to talk and use data it was not real tempting, but with LTE that is a whole different story.

The new Nano is ****. Make it a WATCH which gives the SMS and also uses Siri so we dont have to take the phone out of the pocket all the time! Really, this is a useless device if you're already carrying an iPhone 5. Why even? Very disappointed in rectangular nano. I think they got it wrong on this one.

"New earbuds are next. Over 600 million sets of earbuds have been shipped. That's over 1.2 billion "little speakers"

the world's crappiest speakers. 'bout time they did something with them so it doesn't sound like a tin can on a string. sheesh.

"3 years designing new earphones"

For $29 why not give 'em a try tho

New Nano sucks monkey nuts. What I would like to have seen is the old or similar shape, iPhone integration and bluetooth. Now it's too big to wear as a watch.

1) Not everyone wants to use up their phone battery playing music or video, and

2) Not everyone who uses the iPod Touch has or wants an iPhone.

They can be seen as two very different devices, depending on your needs and other devices.

iPod touch is much much cheaper than the iPhone. So if the 3 wheel car costs 25% as much and gets to do everything you need from a 4 wheel car, then you buy the 3 wheel one.

The Touch is the most popular, the Nano plays music and it does it well, good upgrade from the smaller screen.

I was thinking the same thing. I assume they "shutdown" the apple online store before each event regardless of availability of new products?

Does anyone have information based on history?

It's accurate. I can't tell you why.
