The problem is, they will keep selling on Apple's momentum. People like Apple now. Once they've spent all of that goodwill for some quick cash and nobody will buy their crap, the momentum will work in reverse. They could offer the best and most innovative thing ever made and people won't buy it because they associate Apple with outdated overpriced crap.
This is one of the most senseless product launches. Nothing exciting, no announcement of new MacBooks or macbook pro. I mean, what has Apple been doing all this while? Launching updates (mostly minor and uninnovative) to products that we are not really keen on getting...

Soooo in the US Apple Watch dropped from 399$ to 299$ - But in Europe 399€ stays 399€ :-O
Canada and Europe are going to be struggling with electronics pricing these days. $399 isn't so bad for Americans, especially free on two year agreements.
For $399, it's probably an upgraded 5S w/ a new processor, camera, body, LTE and Wifi Radio, NFC, and VoLTE. Outside of it, don't expect a 2GB of RAM chipset, OIS, or 3D Touch.

I have to laugh at the iPad concern trolls in my Twitter feed right now. People who use the iPad as mostly a consumption device to watch movies, surf the net, go on Facebook, read books etc. don't need the latest and greatest specs. I have an iPad Air 2. It does all of those things perfectly fine. I think Apple has finally realized iPad sales are never getting back to where they were in 2011. The iPad Pro will become more capable and an a laptop replacement for some and the Air and mini will be cheaper and get updated less frequently, mostly for those that want pure consumption device.

Everyone complaining - you have no one but yourselves and the tech/rumor sites to blame. What, Apple's wrong for announcing exactly what these super-sleuths dug up 3-4 months ago? It wasn't EXCITING enough for you - a late-March announcement?
They'll announce new Macs when the new Intel chips are ready - they're probably looking at a redesign as well.

There was no need for an event. On their home page they could have said:-

*oh yeah and ipad pros now come in 256gig option and smaller size.
Done.

Dull... and not very reassuring for people who want a proper laptop, are Apple giving up on proper computers?
This is not the 9.7" iPad update, it is a new 9.7" model of the Pro. Presumably a new 9.7" will be released at some point without the pencil support, speakers, etc..
They didnt do any cool product reveals with great songs and cool design. I liked the 40 in 40 things, but other than that it was very boring. Reminded me of their events in the early 2000s. Plain, simple, and not unique or cool.

I agree. The best iPhone size got upgraded with top specs/features and the best iPad size got upgraded with top specs/features. They could have crippled both of them because of their small size but they didn't. They made them just as powerful as their big brothers.
Looks like protruding cameras are a thing now... That iPad Pro camera makes me feel uncomfortable.
