The only reason for this keynote was to show off how great we are for the environment before going into a session with the FBI, and we made videos...see...did you see the videos...yea...this event should have been a website update.

Not only was this the worst event ever and a total waste of everyone's time, it was a complete embarrassment to Apple and everyone involved.

Half arsed regurgitated products selling for reduculous prices. They basically just increased the price of the iPad.

The Apple lineup is starting to get messy. They have the cheapest iPhone being the SE which has better internals than the more expensive iPhone 6 and 6 plus as well as the smaller iPad Pro with better internals than its larger counterpart. And now they are naming both iPad sizes "iPad Pro" making the accessories confusing as they now have to specify what size it is. They could have at least called it the iPad Pro and iPad Pro Plus to give some sort of differentiation.

hmm... It does occur to me, though, that they were saying "personal computing." And they may be thinking of that as distinct from "professional computing"... possibly... I mean, they know for a fact that Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro, and even Xcode don't run on these things, so they can't abandon the Mac entirely. At least not any time soon.

Thank bloody hell, no Jony Ive this time to talk utter crap.

Anyway, March is generally small update season for Apple. September will be iPhone 7 and Mac Updates (with a possible Apple Watch 2 announcement). Anyone disappointed is going over the top here. I guess we miss the Steve Jobs factor plus the "one more thing" where any product would look impressive. That's what we needed with the iPhone SE as a company keeping an older design and then adding new hardware is rare to see.

I wish Tim Cook wouldn't present for long periods either. That's what makes these stand-ups dull.

I am disappointed there was no MacBook Pro updates. Microsoft introduced products with the new Intel chip set back in November. I have been holding off buying a new MacBook Pro until the next update ... I guess I will have to hold off a little longer. *sigh*

well that was pretty rubbish. Apple little strike at Microsoft it seems. Nothing that fancy. Just in a holding pattern...is this the shape of Apple to come...what a shame.

The $400 for the iPHone SE was a surprise to me. This being Apple, I was thinking $549.

I think what Apple did with this conference is to release a bigger gap between their lower end iOS stuff and their higher end.

On the Ipad side they did this with a $100 increase on the price of the new iPad combined with a $100 decrease on the old iPad. So now you have a $200 gap there.

ON the phone side, you have 4 inch phone that is coming out at $400 which makes it $250 cheaper.

Previously Apple had $100 gaps between their lesser and greater iOs devices.

The iPad Mini price was confusing. I refreshed Apple store for 10 minutes to figure out what exactly is that iPad Mini which costs $269 to find that it's Mini 2, and Mini 4 is still available at $399 (I don't even want to look at European prices). I'm not buying, but this is really looking like pre-Jobs II Apple. Did they say what SE actually stands for? (I guess "Small Edition" but I might have missed that.)

You mean the same consumers who have spent all their hard earned wages buying all the Apple products over the years to put the company where it is today? I think if you spend you're entitled to complain.
Complain on the product, sure... not a damn keynote. The complaining here isn't on the products - it's because they weren't "entertained" or surprised enough - even though these same people clamor and run to every rumor out there. We're already discussing the screens on the iPhone 8, and the 7 isn't even a reality at this point.

This community forgets that it's not the majority of Apple users: everyone here is likely running TV/iOS beta software, so the announcement today was "yawn". Well, the other half a billion users who aren't are probably very excited. What were you expecting... "**** it, 9.4 for everybody!!!" Look at the articles on every site - even here - yesterday... most were titled "What to expect", or thereabouts.

WHY the bitching and/or gloom and doom conclusion jumping? S***'s annoying, and makes people look like whiny, entitled kids.

Agreed.
Their lineup is getting increasingly complicated with gimmicky names like SE, Air, Pro, etc for all of their products.
It is somewhat reminiscent of state of the product lineup prior to Jobs' comeback, after which he consolidated many products.

Granted, Apple is a much bigger company now and in theory, has the resources to have more nice products, but in reality, they've actually become more of a one-trick (i.e. iPhone) pony than they have ever been.

I'm sure most journalists think this event wasn't worth the travel. Even if those new products were not leaked, it was pretty dull. These new products would have been a "side note" in an Apple event a few years ago.

So disappointing... I had my heart set on hearing about new MacBooks... Right at the end he was setting it up SO well, "This is probably our last product announcement here... So we've got one more thing"

And then he kept going on and on. Then as soon as he mentioned the new campus I was like "Wow. It's really done. Already."

The new Intel Skylake chips are getting old already now!
Didn't I see here somewhere that they may be waiting for the next ones, in an attempt to line up all of their displays (including a potential new 5K TB display) that Skylake wouldn't be able to handle? I'm not sure... at the very least, I'd expect news this summer - likely a MBP redesign.

Apple with the 16gb models for $100 dollars less is criminal. They should start 32 or 64 at a minimum and then prices should be fairly even as memory only costs a small amount.

I know they do it to get more money out of customers but i feel like it's dishonest pricing and disrespectful to buyers. They make a healthy profit on all products and most are happy paying a premium for the quality but to make the gaps so huge is just shameful really. It's the nasty end of apple I'm growing to hate more and more.

It seemed obvious to me that they were implying a move away from laptop computing toward tablets... the jokes about "5-year-old PC's" were laughable, since that's practically how old the current processors are in any of the Pro lines.

I dunno... I'm totally confused by all of this.

I've been waiting almost 2-years for a significant rMBP update, and now I'm really feeling like giving up and just grabbing a Surface Book... as a designer, it meets all of my needs in a single device and I'm comfortable on Windows 10. I actually kind of like it, TBH.

Meh... :(

Didn't expect anything great out of this one, but was surprised at how lackluster it was nonetheless. They can't all be hits.

Apple is always last to recognize their products are consistently selling for less than the list price.

So when they announce a lower price it is almost always anti-climatic. ie, the $300 Watch and $400 iPad Air 2.

I think this keynote was not about major new releases or innovations....it was a nod to the digital minimalists, which btw make-up a huge portion of the consumers. Think about; there are a huge number of people that could get by just fine with an iPhone SE ($400) and an iPad pro ($600) for their personal computing needs. They can store their photos, media and documents in the cloud, so they don't need much onboard storage.

Look, I understand many of the folks on MR purchase their own computers for professional purposes, but that is simply not the reality for most people. Most folks use a company provided PC. They don't need to buy a computer for work, so they only need a simple solution for home and personal computing. For these folks, an iPad Pro is plenty powerful and a fine solution. They might even be ok with an iPad Air 2.

This keynote wasn't for the small fraction of people that troll Tech Sites, it was for the vast majority of people that have simpler needs.
