To be fair, Microsoft are (mostly) a software company. It's about time OS X became free when a Mac will set you back at least £1000. Microsoft never made Xbox users pay for their OS upgrades.

Revolutionized OS Pricing = We've decided not to charge everyone for out incremental updates yeah Apple that's it, try to pick on Microsoft when you're the guilty ones..

I don't know about you, but I'd rather pay nothing for incremental updates each year than pay $200 every couple years. To each their own though.

To be fair, Microsoft are (mostly) a software company. It's about time OS X became free when a Mac will set you back at least £1000.

There certainly is merit in what MS did (and the £25/£15 upgrade offer on Windows 8 Pro they did when 8 launched - I bought two of those licences!), but Apple have gone the extra mile letting people with older releases upgrade for free IMO.

Microsoft never made Xbox users pay for their OS upgrades.

I don't ever remember any console manufacturer that made people pay for firmware updates either.
