Am I the only one that wants Face ID on a MacBook/air/pro?

Great Apple. The Aluminium bezel was fantastic for education, more durable. Magsafe was also fantastic for the same reason. As was the SD card reader etc.

I am guessing the "previous" model will now go Education-only (perhaps with a price drop).

I expect the new Air replaces the MacBook Pro 13 without Touchbar

The 12'' actually fits in the line-up better than before -

12'' 1 USB-C
13.3'' Air 2 USB-C
13.3'' Pro 4 USB-C

why are laptops not FaceID?

why are they still lingering with TouchID...Yes, I get the fact that you are touching the keyboard, but just opening the screen and you can be typing with FaceID...

Because the Air is a budget laptop.

Ports are going away. Even my “business class” HP EliteBook is shedding ports with each generation. Thunderbolt is starting to take off.

They have been “going away” for years now, and yet USB-A is still the most used port .

But they lost me with the keyboard.

I will NEVER buy a computer that features that keyboard. I have tried it now on a few different divises and iterations and it is by far the worst keyboard experience I have ever had on a laptop.

Apple is making the same stupid mistakes on the MBA that they made on the rest of the portable line. Oversized trackpad and unreliable keyboard.

Dual Core??? Still??? Really??? This better be way under $1000.

I welcome the new trackpad, but there looks to be absolutely no travel in those keys. Blech. I wonder how long it is until they get jammed up.

they're just ensuring that every mac have a T2 chip so they can lock out hackintoshes in future OSX release.

I can’t believe they did this but ruined a formerly bulletproof reliable computer with that horrendous keyboard.

They were so close here. Such a shame.
